The Sydney-Based Studios We’ll Be Visiting Now That Gyms Are Open

Get back in the groove

While we’ve been loving our at-home workouts and following along to some incredibly motivating virtual pilates, yoga and cardio routines thanks to some of Australia’s most influential fitness stars, now that gyms are finally starting to reopen – it’s time to get back into the groove. Along with supporting Australian-owned businesses, getting back to your favourite local studio for a workout is the perfect way to ease back into life as we knew it.

Many of our favourite local haunts have opened their doors and are ready to see you work a sweat. Below, the Sydney studios we’re putting on our lists of workouts to try this year.

Wellness Playground

Recently opened in Marrickville, the Wellness Playground is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Fitted out with three tailored studios for reformer pilates, barre and yoga, it feels more like a soothing oasis than a gym. At the end of your session, you can refresh in the infrared sauna, enjoy a complimentary tea in the cafe-style area or touch up your hair and makeup in the luxurious bathrooms. If you’ve fallen out of love with your traditional training methods and are looking for something a little different, you’ll undoubtedly find it here.

Peaches Pilates

PEACHES Pilates has boutique fitness studios in Bondi, Cronulla and Maroubra, and reopened their doors this week. They’re ready for clients to work on their core strength, flexibility and ultimately their “peachy booty”, as they call it. But, whilst the studios have opened once again, the online programs they developed amid the pandemic will continue to be available for those who prefer their living room or feeling like having their own private class with founders Bec and Tori.

Fluid Form Pilates

Founder Kirsten King – who counts Georgia Fowler, Elle Ferguson, Pip Edwards and Nicole Warne as clients – has a love of Pilates that is contagious (and you’ll feel amazing after just one class). Already working with small groups, the studio targets those smaller muscle groups to create long and lean limbs. Thanks to its already intimate setting, you’ll likely never be doing the same exercise as the person next to you as it’s all completely tailored to you and your body.
