MAFS star Jason Engler has issued a public apology for comments he made in a viral video that emerged this week of him slamming fellow Married At First Sight star Liam Cooper.
The video, which was exclusively shared by reality TV podcast So Dramatic on Instagram, showed Jason talking to-camera while spending time with fellow MAFS stars Johnny Balbuziente and Liam’s on-screen wife, Georgia Fairweather. Johnny’s on-screen wife Kerry Knight was also present, although not shown on film.
In the video, Jason makes multiple slurs against Liam, calling him “ugly” and “chubby”, saying he’s a “110% wanker”. He goes on to say “He hasn’t gone to the gym in 64 years. Georgia is way hotter than him and he is batting way above his average,” and “Georgia’s husband is full-blown homosexual.”
Naturally, fans were outraged by the video, as not only are Jason’s comments out of line, Georgia and Johnny are also seen laughing to the side. Georgia was allegedly the person who uploaded the video, as well.
Since the video’s release, Jason has made a formal statement to The Daily Mail, apologising for his words.
“I would like to sincerely apologise for my comments in regards to a fellow MAFS participant’s sexuality,” he said.
“After a few too many drinks I made some inappropriate remarks that I am ashamed of and greatly regret. I will learn from this and try to become a better person from this experience.”
A source allegedly close to Liam also told the outlet Liam was “absolutely betrayed and heartbroken” by the video.
