Congratulations are in order for Anne Hathaway, who has announced she is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman.
The Oscar winner confirmed the happy news on Instagram on June 19, sharing a sweet video that revealed her growing baby bump. In the clip, Hathaway walks into frame wearing a flowing white two-piece by Nothing Fits But as Barbara Lewis’ Baby I’m Yours plays in the background.
Lowering her arms to reveal her stomach, she smiles, cradles her bump and then playfully runs out of sight.
“X Baby, I’m yours x,” she captioned the post.
This will be Hathaway and Shulman’s third child together. The couple, who married in 2012, are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, whom they have largely kept out of the public eye.
Hathaway has previously been candid about her experience with fertility and pregnancy. When announcing she was expecting her second child in 2019, she acknowledged that the journey to motherhood had not always been straightforward.
“It’s not for a movie… #2,” she wrote at the time. “All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love.”
In recent years, Hathaway has also spoken openly about how becoming a mother changed her perspective on life. In a 2022 interview with WSJ Magazine, she said she didn’t feel “fully landed and fully here” until she became a parent, explaining that motherhood encouraged her to live more honestly and intentionally.
The pregnancy announcement arrives during an exceptionally busy period in Hathaway’s career. The actor recently reprised her iconic role as Andy Sachs in the highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada and stars in the A24 musical drama Mother Mary. She is also set to appear as Penelope in Christopher Nolan’s epic adaptation of The Odyssey, alongside several other major projects currently in development.
Despite her packed schedule, Hathaway recently suggested that family remains her greatest joy. Speaking to ELLE in May, she described life with her sons as being in a “really fun zone where we all love hanging out together, which I understand may change.”
“Well, we will always love hanging out with them, but their feelings about us might change,” she said with a laugh. “So for the moment, we’re all just in it. Adam and I are soaking it up. I’m having the most wonderful time with my family, living in the city of my dreams, and work seems to be going really, really well.”
Hathaway also added: “So rather obnoxiously, I’m having a great time as everything else burns.”
Soon, there will be one more member of the Hathaway-Shulman family joining the fun!
Who Is Adam Shulman?

Adam Shulman is an American actor, film producer, and jewelry designer.
The pair first met at the Palm Springs Film Festival in 2008 and began dating shortly afterwards. Hathaway has since revealed that she knew almost immediately that Shulman was someone special, later telling Harper’s Bazaar in 2013 that she had predicted she would marry him shortly after they met. Four years later, the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Big Sur, California.
The wedding was co-officiated by a rabbi and a priest in an interfaith ceremony that honoured both Shulman’s Jewish faith and Hathaway’s Catholic upbringing.
Though often only referred to as Hathaway’s husband, Shulman has forged a successful creative career of his own. A graduate of Brown University with a degree in theatre, he has worked as both an actor and producer, appearing in projects including American Dreams and collaborating with Hathaway on the 2014 independent film Song One.
He is perhaps best known today as the founder of jewellery label James Banks Design, which creates handcrafted pieces in California using recycled materials. In a particularly adorable detail, Shulman designed Hathaway’s engagement ring himself!
Over the years, Hathaway has repeatedly credited Shulman with being a grounding force in her life. In interviews, she has described him as her biggest supporter, a “dream partner” and an exceptional father. More recently, she praised the way he supported her through an unusually demanding year of filming, calling him “the most extraordinary person” she had ever met.
