The Sweet Way Prince Louis Comforted A Grieving Kate Middleton

Get the tissues ready.

A day after Queen Elizabeth II died, the streets outside Windsor Castle were flooded with flowers and mourners wanting to share their sympathies with the royal family. And while greeting mourners, Princess Kate shared an extremely sweet story of how her son, Prince Louis, has helped her with the grief.

According to Hello! Magazinethe outlet reported that Kate Middleton was in conversation with a well-wisher named Banita Ranow, where she revealed a heartbreaking comment Prince Louis made to his mother. Thankfully, the moment was caught on tape, where it was then turned into a now-viral clip on TikTok.

“My little Louis is just so sweet,” the newly-titled Princess of Wales said in the video as she became teary-eyed. “He said, ‘Mummy don’t worry, because she is now with great-grandpa’.”

Prince Louis was referring to his great-grandfather Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and the husband of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in April 2021.

While walking the streets of Windsor Castle, the Prince and Princess of Wales were joined by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who were reportedly invited at the last minute. While it is unknown whether the latter is true, some believe it’s a sign that the brothers and their wives could finally be putting aside their differences. In fact, this public appearance was the first time that the four have publicly appeared together since Harry and Meghan stepped down as working members of the royal family in 2021.

Later that day, Prince William released a statement about the death of Queen Elizabeth II, sharing how he admired her service to her country but also how she supported him as a grandmother.

“On Thursday, the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth was absolute,” he wrote on the Prince and Princess of Wales official Instagram. “So much will be said in the days ahead about the meaning of her historic reign.”

“I, however, have lost a grandmother. And while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful. I have had the benefit of The Queen’s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade. My wife has had twenty years of her guidance and support. My three children have got to spend holidays with her and create memories that will last their whole lives.

“She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.”

He concluded, “My grandmother famously said that grief was the price we pay for love. All of the sadness we will feel in the coming weeks will be testament to the love we felt for our extraordinary Queen. I will honour her memory by supporting my father, The King, in every way I can.”

The official state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19.
