Thank you, Netflix.

Voicemails For Isabelle arrived on Netflix mere days ago, and it’s already earned a swathe of fans saying it’s the best rom-com in years. The new smash hit has also reminded us why we can’t get enough of its two romantic leads: Nick Robinson and Zoey Deutch.

This is not the first major rom-com for either actor, with Zoey winning fans alongside Glen Powell in one of the streamer’s most enduring favourites, Set It Up. Meanwhile, Nick won hearts in the critically-praised teen rom-com, Love, Simon.

While the latter star certainly didn’t disappear from screens – you may also recognise Nick from Maid, Damsel or Boardwalk Empire – his role as Wes in Voicemails For Isabelle marks a grand return to the heartthrob zeitgeist.

The premise of Voicemails For Isabelle is reminiscent of ’90s and ’00s romcoms, like Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail. It follows a grieving Jill (Deutch), who frequently calls and leaves voicemails for her recently passed sister, Isabelle. However, Jill is not aware that her little sister’s phone number has been reassigned to Wes (Robinson). Wes falls in love with the woman on the other end of the phone, and goes to find her.

As you can imagine, this tearjerker of a romcom is both emotional and uplifting, and both leads are already being praised for their performances. However, it’s Robinson – returning to screens with what can only be described as ‘Disney Prince hair’ – who has praising Netflix for his comeback in the genre.

As it would appear, Nick’s latest film proves he’s the romantic hero we’ve been searching for in 2026. But what of his love life off screen?

Who is Nick Robinson?

Nick Robinson is an American actor, whom you may recognise from sitcom Melissa & Joey, or films like Jurassic World and Love, Simon. Something of a former child star, Nick was only 15 when he played the nephew of Melissa Joan Hart’s character in Melissa & Joey. He reached mainstream success when he appeared as the titular lead in teen romcom Love, Simon. His credentials as a romantic lead continued as the leading man in Damsel (2024), opposite Millie Bobby Brown.

However, if you’re not familiar with his more dramatic work, you might be surprised to learn that Robinson played Sean in Maid (2021). Definitely a villain of that story, Robinson’s character was the abusive ex-partner of Margaret Qualley‘s Alex.

Nick hails from Seattle, Washington, where he was born on March 22, 1995. His star sign is Aries and, for those wondering, he measures up to 6’1″ (185cm) tall.

Is Nick Robinson in a relationship?

The jury is out on whether Nick Robinson is still in a relationship. Mainstream media reports he has been in a long-term relationship with Samantha Urbani. However, taking a look at their Instagram profiles, we’re not sold

Nick, 28, and Samantha, 37, began dating in 2019 after becoming an item on Valentine’s Day. In a story that sounds straight out of a rom-com itself, the two met and fell in love while playing spin the bottle. Their first date was to a taping of Saturday Night Live. In 2024, Urbani shared the story of how they met on Instagram:

“Hello fyi exactly 5 years ago on this very day, yes the day of valentines, I played spin the bottle with some friends and then a very special one of them – who I’d met a couple years before in Berlin – asked me if I wanted to go to SNL > which became adventure all night > which turned into lighting tiny fireworks stolen from afterparty, outside the Plaza, in chilly NYC sunrise > and perfectly magically became morning borscht at veselka… aka top tier heart thawing revitalizing joyful times / ultimate nyc dream date / a # 1 best memory ever.”

Who is Samantha Urbani?

Samantha Urbani is a singer-songwriter, DJ and music producer from the US. She was formerly in the experimental pop band Friends.

In tragic irony, Urbani’s real-life mirrors the plot of Voicemails to Isabelle in that she is also grieving the death of a sibling. Urbani’s brother, Bobby, passed away in 2004, and the musician continues to post about him annually on the anniversary of his death. In 2026, she wrote: “Psst… Send some love up to our boy Bobby today – and to everyone of yours up there too <3 22 years without my big brother / for ever ever that little sister. If you’ve been here a minute, you know my favourite thing is for new people to get to know him- you can read my old stories here: #rjuiii.”

Are Nick Robinson and Samantha Urbani still together?

While several media outlets appear to confirm Nick and Samantha are still together, social media points to evidence of a split. In October 2025, Urbani shared a post to Instagram identifying herself as single. “God forbid a grown ass single woman offer a 1000% accurate in-real-time tropical-coded hair-update grid-slay thirst-selfie every 6 months on the dot,” she wrote alongside a selfie.

Despite posting quite regularly, Urbani also hasn’t posted recently about Robinson. She also hasn’t publicly commented on the release of Voicemails For Isabelle. Nick also doesn’t post regularly on his Instagram, with the most recent photo of the couple on his Instagram dating back to 2022. However, the two attended the Damsel premiere together in 2024.

While we may never receive confirmation directly from Nick or Samantha, we’re holding space for theories of a split. Stay tuned.
