An inner circle for the ages

If there is one thing more contentious than planning a wedding, it’s deciding who makes the guest list.

Every couple eventually encounters the same social minefield: the obligatory invites, the distant acquaintances, the negotiations over plus ones and the inevitable disappointment of those who fail to make the final cut. But while most weddings unfold beyond public scrutiny, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s upcoming nuptials have become a matter of international fascination.

The world’s biggest pop star and one of the NFL’s most recognisable athletes are expected to marry on July 3rd in what will almost certainly be the celebrity wedding of the decade. In the absence of an official seating chart, a single question has come to dominate public discourse: who, exactly, made the cut?

To answer that, it helps to take a look at Swift’s inner circle.

Cast your mind back to 2015 and Swift’s infamous “squad” was at the height of its powers. Models including Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and Martha Hunt regularly appeared by her side, alongside fellow musicians Selena Gomez, the Haim sisters and Lorde.

Then there was the star-studded “Bad Blood” music video, which recruited everyone from Hailee Steinfeld, Zendaya and Lena Dunham to Lily Aldridge and Cindy Crawford. Swift even jokingly referred to the group as a “tyrannical hot girl cult.”

It was a simpler time, before the West-Kardashian feud, before the battle over her masters, and before the Eras Tour transformed her into an even bigger cultural force. The era reached its glittering peak with Swift’s legendary Fourth of July parties in Rhode Island, complete with Tom Hiddleston’s now-iconic “I ♥ T.S.” tank top.

But friendships evolve and celebrity alliances shift.

So, with wedding bells on the horizon, we’re taking a closer look at the people who remain in Taylor Swift’s inner circle—and who are therefore most likely to be celebrating with her when she says, “I do.”

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran and Swift have been close friends and collaborators for more than a decade, remaining steadfast through the many highs and lows of their respective lives.

In fact, Swift has already hinted that Sheeran may play a role in the celebrations. During an appearance on the U.K.’s Hits Radio Breakfast Show in October 2025, while promoting The Life of a Showgirl, Swift was asked whether her longtime friend would perform at the wedding.

“We spoke to Ed Sheeran a few weeks back, and he told us he is constantly asked to perform at people’s weddings. So is he singing at your wedding?” host Fleur East asked.

“Oh, it would be hard to keep him from it, I think!” Swift replied. “It’s like, ‘Ed, if there is a stage, you know you’ll be on it.'”

She also fondly recalled Sheeran’s own 2018 wedding to wife Cherry Seaborn, describing it as a “forest wedding” in the woods.

Whether or not he ends up taking the microphone, it would be more surprising if Sheeran wasn’t there. It’s safe to say, Ed is still firmly within the inner circle.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez has been by Swift’s side for what feels like forever.

The pair have shared one of Hollywood’s most enduring friendships since first meeting in 2008, when they were each dating a Jonas brother. Swift was seeing Joe Jonas, while Gomez was linked to Nick Jonas.

Swift was by Gomez’s side when she married Blanco last year, even reportedly delivering a heartfelt speech at the reception. Given that history, it is difficult to imagine Gomez anywhere other than the front row when Swift walks down the aisle.

Some fans have even speculated that Gomez’s role could extend beyond that of guest, with rumours suggesting she may be among Swift’s bridesmaids. Whether or not that proves true, her place in Swift’s circle is steadfast.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid and Swift have been close friends since 2014, when they first appeared together at an Oscars after-party, and have remained fixtures in one another’s lives ever since.

Over the years, Hadid has occupied a permanent place within Swift’s orbit, appearing everywhere from birthday celebrations to Eras Tour audiences. More recently, the friendship has evolved into something of a couples’ alliance. As Hadid’s relationship with Bradley Cooper has progressed alongside Swift’s romance with Kelce, the quartet have become frequent companions, even escaping for a low-key getaway to California’s Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Rumours have swirled that Hadid could be among Swift’s bridesmaids. If true, her role may add a slightly awkward subplot to the celebrations. Before dating Hadid, Bradley Cooper was in a relationship with singer and actress Suki Waterhouse, who also happens to be a close friend of Swift’s (and a former Eras Tour opening act). We sense an awkward encounter may be on the cards. That aside, Gigi remains one of Taylor’s closest friends, and we doubt much could come between them.

Haim Sisters

If there’s one group that feels destined for the guest list, it’s Haim. Swift’s friendship with sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim stretches back more than a decade, encompassing Fourth of July parties, Eras Tour performances and musical collaborations including No Body, No Crime and Gasoline.

The admiration is mutual. In 2024, Este Haim described Swift as “the best friend and the best hang.” Most recently, Swift was joined by Alana and Este Haim at Madison Square Garden for the NBA Finals, where the trio wore matching custom T-shirts emblazoned with phrases including “Stevie Knicks” and “Knickleback.”

Abigail Anderson Berard

Long before there was a celebrity squad, there was Abigail Anderson. Swift’s oldest and arguably most enduring friendship dates back to high school, with Anderson famously inspiring the Fearless track ‘Fifteen’. More than two decades later, the pair remain close, with Swift recently referencing her longtime friend on The Life of a Showgirl.

Jack Antonoff

Jack Antonoff has spent more than a decade as one of Swift’s closest friends and most important creative collaborators, helping shape everything from 1989 to Folklore. Swift was front and centre at his 2023 wedding to Margaret Qualley, so it feels safe to assume the couple will return the favour.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Antonoff made his loyalty to Swift crystal clear.

“I’m a little bitch sometimes, but you come after my friend Taylor, you’re toast to me,” he said.

Swift is equally effusive when speaking about Antonoff. In a 2017 interview with The New York Times, she said: “He’s an absolute joy. That’s why everyone loves him. I personally wouldn’t trust someone who didn’t.”

Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham and Swift have been close friends for more than a decade, first appearing together publicly at the 2013 Grammys. Dunham later starred in Swift’s Bad Blood music video, while Swift revealed that You Are In Love was inspired by Dunham’s relationship with then-boyfriend Jack Antonoff.

The friendship has also had a lasting impact on Swift personally, with the singer previously crediting Dunham for helping shape her understanding of feminism. It feels safe to say Dunham and Swift are still besties.

Sabrina Carpenter

Long before she was one of pop’s biggest stars, Sabrina Carpenter was a devoted Swiftie. What began with childhood covers of White Horse and Picture to Burn eventually evolved into one of the industry’s sweetest full-circle friendships.

Carpenter joined Swift as an opening act on the Eras Tour, performed alongside her on stage and has frequently described the singer as one of her closest friends. The pair later collaborated on The Life of a Showgirl, further cementing their close friendship.

Emma Stone

Less publicly documented than some of Swift’s other friendships, but no less enduring, is her bond with Emma Stone. The pair have been close since meeting at the Young Hollywood Awards in 2008, maintaining a friendship that has spanned nearly two decades.

Swift attended the premiere of Poor Things in New York in December 2023, before enthusiastically cheering Stone on when she won a Golden Globe the following month. Stone, meanwhile, was spotted singing and dancing along at the opening night of the Eras Tour and later described Swift as a “wonderful friend” whom she’d known since they were “17 and 18.”

Swift even fuelled years of fan speculation when she revealed When Emma Falls in Love was inspired by one of her best friends, widely believed to be Stone.

Who Is Taylor Swift Not Friends With Anymore?

Karlie Kloss was once a cornerstone of Taylor Swift’s famous squad, but the pair appear to have drifted apart in recent years. After years of singing each others praises and holidaying in Rhode Island, their friendship quietly fizzled. Kloss’s ties to Scooter Braun fuelled speculation, and despite Swift reclaiming her masters, the pair don’t appear to have reconciled.

For years, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were considered part of Taylor Swift’s inner circle, with Lively even directing Swift’s I Bet You Think About Me music video and the couple’s children inspiring characters in her songs. However, their friendship appears to have cooled following Lively’s legal dispute with Justin Baldoni, which inadvertently drew Swift into the controversy.
