The Prince and Princess of Wales have touched down in their namesake. After receiving their new titles from King Charles III, Kate Middleton and Prince William made a special visit to Anglesey, in the northwest of Wales, where they greeted locals and shared a nostalgic moment.
The pair actually lived in Wales back in 2010 shortly after they became husband and wife. Kate’s first official royal duty with William was helping to launch a new lifeboat there, and on Tuesday, the pair visited the RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station to meet crew members, and volunteers—a full circle moment if you will.
For the event, Kate wore a bright LK Bennett coat in Wales’ national colour, red. She added a simple black crewneck and black pants with pumps.
The bright coat was quick to stand out, particularly because it marked the end of 18 days of mourning following the Queen’s death, which required all royals to wear black outfits.
The red coat, which retails for almost AUD $1,000, also includes a sweet nod to Princess Diana. LK Bennett named it the ‘Spencer Coat’, which is in reference to Princess Diana whose maiden name was Spencer.
In the afternoon, the couple visited Swansea, on the coast of Wales, where they visited a redeveloped church that was rebuilt into a community hub. It now houses a food bank that supports more than 200 people per week. It also hosts Swansea Baby Basics, which helps vulnerable mothers with children’s products. The organisation is close to Kate’s heart, with the royal previously working with them sorting and unloading parcels for mums and babies in need during the pandemic.
During the event, Kate helped a two-year-old girl to pack items, and as the appearance drew to a close, she presented the Princess with a posy of flowers and embraced her.
No doubt this visit will be remembered by William and Kate for a long while to come.
