2022 officially starts today—Rihanna has announced she is pregnant with her first child.
The 33-year-old singer and makeup mogul confirmed the news alongside her partner A$AP Rocky early on Tuesday morning with a series of pictures taken of the expecting parents in New York City (which you can view via PEOPLE here).
On-brand as ever, the Barbadian was seen in the snaps wearing a bright pink vintage Chanel jacket (from the brand’s Autumn / Winter 1996 collection, no less) and low-cut jeans, revealing her bare baby bump in full.
To add, several chunky golden bejewelled chains hang over her stomach—could she be any more Rihanna? We tend to think not, and we love that for her.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have known each other for years, and they took their friendship to the next level in 2020 when they began dating.
Rocky has spoken previously about his love for the iconic singer, telling GQ that she’s “the love of my life.”
“She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones. I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.”
Rihanna has also spoken previously about her thoughts on becoming a mother, telling British Vogue, “Ten years? I’ll be 42! I’ll be ancient. I’ll have kids—three or four of ’em,” she said.
Rumours of the star’s pregnancy first emerged in November 2021 when the Umbrella singer attended her home country’s first presidential inauguration.
There, she reportedly requested that event staff not smoke around her.
At that same event, Rihanna was officially named a national hero of Barbados for the incredible legacy she’s created from her successful career in music, the beauty industry and her activism.
Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky has made a name for himself in American rap music, earning a deal with Sony Music by age 22 and subsequently receiving two Grammy nominations.
It would be safe to say this baby is going to have one heck of a mum and dad to look up to—congraulations to the parents to be!
