Just three days ago, Home and Away star Sarah Roberts posted a beautiful wedding photo of her and her husband, fellow Home and Away star James Stewart, to wish him a happy birthday.
“Happy Birthday to my husband. 🎈Always holding my hand no matter near or far. My rock in a world that doesn’t always make sense. I love you. Happy Birthday baby,” she wrote.
Unfortunately, today she took to social media with a somber message, announcing that her older brother, Karl De Abrew, passed away last night after a 15-year battle with brain cancer.
“3 months ago today he walked me down the aisle & now he is walking with the angels. 🙏🏽✨,” she wrote.
“I’m left with a hole in my heart & 34 years of beautiful memories… growing up together as children into adults. You fought THE BRAVEST battle Big Squirt to the very end and I promise to always live by your standards; to remember what you taught me, “it’s all about the journey, not the destination” & “have no regrets”. I love you, I cherish you, I salute you. You can rest now, we know you’re dancing up there in the heavens, always watching down on us. Forever all my love, Medium Squirt x.”
With the post, she shared five photos of Karl from her wedding day. Karl walked her down the aisle during her wedding in Dublin, Ireland, on July 23, 2019. Sarah told Who the reason they got married in Dublin was not just because James has Irish heritage, but because Karl couldn’t travel anywhere at the time. “My brother lives over here. He’s not able to fly at the moment because of health reasons. And my mum’s over here at the moment as well.”
Earlier this month Sarah shared a sweet 45th birthday message for her brother, singing her love and adoration for him. “It would be IMPOSSIBLE to repay you for what you’ve done for me! You’re also SO freaking intelligent but it is your unshakable persistence that regularly inspires me & makes me endlessly proud of you,” she wrote.
Karl leaves behind his wife Susana and children Alexander and Aurora.
