Has Selling Sunset been renewed for season 6 and season 7?
Thankfully, Netflix has officially confirmed that not one, but two seasons are headed to our small screens. On March 11, the streaming giant shared that "new seasons" would be arriving for the series, but didn't specify how many.
That luxury went to the series' cast, like Chrishell Stause, who announced on June 24 that we can expect a sixth and seventh instalment.
Making the announcement on Instagram, Chrishell wrote, "CONGRATS to this fun loveable crazy group! #SellingSunset has been officially renewed for seasons 6&7! Filming on season 6 begins this summer!"
What will happen in Selling Sunset season 6?
As fans would know, the end of season five left us questioning more than a few things. So, the next season will likely tie up those loose ends.
For those that remember, Selling Sunset is getting a spin-off in Orange County, which Brett will be leading so his storyline will likely revolve around that.
And in the fifth season's reunion episode, Chrishell shared that she is currently dating Australia's own, G Flip, after announcing that she'd parted ways with Jason. So, season six will likely follow how the pair met and began their relationship—who knows, perhaps we'll see a cameo by G Flip themselves.
As for Christine, the finale of season five saw the mother-of-one accused of bribing a client to work solely with her and Jason telling Mary that she's no longer welcome in the Oppenheim group. So, her fate at the brokerage will finally be known as well.
Which cast members be leaving the Selling Sunset cast in season 6?
In June, rumours began swirling that Maya Vander would not be returning to Selling Sunset, and it turns out, the rumours are true.
Confirming the speculation, Maya took to her Instagram to share her plans for a future without the reality show.
“So… I’m very proud of my Selling Sunset family for getting two more seasons and hopefully [an] Emmy nomination,” she wrote.
“I decided to not go on with the show and it was not an easy decision! Being a part of such a successful hit is absolutely amazing and I am so grateful for!”
As per Page Six, Maya has moved to Miami and will be pouring all of her attention into her real estate company and spending time with her family.
“I want to focus on my family, and flying coast to coast is a lot," she told the publication.
"The show is great, and I love everyone, but looking forward to growing my business in South Florida.”
As we know, Christine's fate on the show was up in the air by the season finale. Will she be fired? Or will she go to another brokerage that's competing with the Oppenheim group? Well, apparently she's "not going anywhere".
While she has apparently left the Oppenheim Group to start her own real estate startup with her husband Christian Dumontet, called RealOpen, which is a cryptocurrency-focused brokerage for people to buy and sell property with digital assets.
“The show is, like, my No. 1 [and] everyone knows that,” she told Us Magazine.
“But we just have to get creative now because I don’t work for the Oppenheim Group. Maybe it’s a battle of the brokerages.”
Which cast members will be back for Selling Sunset season 6?
Joining twins and boss men Jason and Brett Oppenheim, it's highly likely that favourites Mary Fitzgerald, Heather Rae El Moussa, Amanza Smith, Emma Hernan, Davina Potratz and Chelsea Lazkani will return for the sixth season.
And while an exit from the show has not been confirmed for her, speculation has risen around the on-screen fate of Vanessa Villela, since she is now engaged to her partner Nick Hardy. Her fiancé lives in the UK and even made an appearance last season to talk about the stress of them living so far apart, but which country she'll choose to live in is still unknown.
As for Christine, the finale episode of season five saw the real estate broker and new mother in some serious hot water, after she was accused of offering a client money to solely work with her. Since then, Christine announced that she has left the Oppenheim Group, but not due to the accusation.
Instead, she chose to work on a business venture created by herself and her husband. Called RealOpen, it allows home buyers to get their hands on real estate by using cryptocurrency. And according to Christine, she was made to believe that the venture would be the main focus of her season five storyline.
"That was my understanding of my storyline. I was talking about opening my own brokerage and doing my own thing, but I don't think that was interesting enough," she revealed.
However, Christine has confirmed that she will thankfully be returning for the show's sixth season.
“I love the show,” she told Us Weekly. “The show is, like, my No. 1 [and] everyone knows that. But we just have to get creative now because I don’t work for the Oppenheim Group. … Maybe it’s a battle of the brokerages.”
And as per Selling Sunset tradition, there are a pair of new faces joining the Oppenheim group—Nicole Young and Bre Tiesi. For Young, she might be new to the cast but she has been a veteran real estate broker at Jason and Brett's group for quite some time. As per Deadline, she's the longest-standing and top-producing realtor and has earned herself $100M in sales. She also served as Mary and Romain's wedding officiant.
And for Tiesi, she was born and raised in Calabasas and has been a key player in the entertainment industry from business to branding. Following her modelling and acting career, she became a consultant for the luxury market and has earned multi-million dollar deals with celebrities and business moguls, as per Deadline.
When will Selling Sunset Season 6 be released?
Currently, there's no official premiere date for season six just yet. However, several cast members have said that filming will begin during Australian winter.
And since the series airs once a year, and that season five aired in April 2022, there's a good chance that the sixth season will be released sometime in 2023.
