There’s nothing that makes a fashion savant’s heart beat more than when an onscreen character’s ensemble is just so chic that it stands the test of time. For Sex And The City‘s Carrie Bradshaw, it was her charcoal body-con dress—that she sported with tinted aviator sunglasses—that fans still obsess over years and years on.
And given the new era of Bradshaw in the show’s reboot, And Just Like That…, it only makes sense that her wardrobe earn its stripes with new and on-trend show-stopping styles that we’ll continue to talk about for another twenty years.
While some may have doubted the reboot’s ability to live up to the fashion from the hit ’90s series, recent photos taken while filming in New York City say otherwise. Dressing Sarah Jessica Parker in various stunning ensembles, the 2021 update to her original little charcoal number was what truly caught our eye.
Photographed outside of the Au Cheval restaurant in downtown Manhattan, Parker sported a figure-hugging, one shoulder Norma Kamali dress in a pale, sky blue, partnered with an ivory silk jacket and a chic pair of heeled sandals.
Clearly an homage to the charcoal body-con that she wore in season two, episode 15 of the show, the look is virtually the same, sans aviators and one shoulder. A brighter colour and longer hemline suggest that the look has been adapted to suit a more mature Carrie, all without sacrificing the show-stopping nature of the original.
But the best part? Carrie’s sky blue ‘Diana’ dress from Norma Kamali x Revolve is currently available for $320.
Naturally, the body-con is far from the only fashion moment of Carrie’s to be reborn. Back on August 19, Parker shared an image of one of her character’s iconic tutus, captioning the video, “Now and then”, all while wearing the same boots that she sported in the original.
As for the And Just Like That… costume team, the group of designers shared the same video to their Instagram, captioning the post with, “AND…teaching us all the art of the twirl.”
