In case it wasn’t already obvious, I love an accessory. Handbags, shoes, jewellery, sunglasses—you name it, I’m interested. But I’ll be honest: I’m just as interested in adding to my own collection as I am in clocking what everyone around me is carrying.
Sometimes it’s a pair of shoes I’ve also had sitting on my wish list. Other times, it’s a piece of jewellery I haven’t spotted my friends wearing before. But more often than not, it’s the handbag that catches my eye.

WHAT MAKES COACH BAGS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER HANDBAG BRANDS?
Whether I’m catching up with friends over coffee and errands, heading out for afternoon drinks or sitting down for a quick dinner, there’s one common denominator I’ve been noticing in the accessory department lately: Coach bags.
It’s hardly surprising when you consider the brand’s celebrity following, with the likes of Elle Fanning, Bella Hadid, Charli XCX and Ella Bright all spotted carrying Coach. Naturally, that influence has trickled down to my Instagram feed, where a Coach bag seems to appear every time I open the app—or slung over the shoulder of almost every particularly well-dressed person I pass.
But is the hype justified? And more importantly, do the designs have enough staying power to outlive the current fashion trends? Personally, I think Coach has found the sweet spot between recognisable design, wearable silhouettes and the kind of versatility that makes a handbag earn its place in your wardrobe.

Are Coach Bags Well Made?
Part of the reason Coach has experienced such a surge in popularity lately is that its bags manage to balance considered design with a more accessible take on luxury. The brand is known for using premium leathers and traditional craftsmanship, all while keeping current collections decidedly modern.
Coach’s history dates back to the 1940s, when it began as a family-run workshop in New York specialising in leather goods. That heritage is still reflected in the brand’s approach to materials and construction, but its current designs feel far removed from being purely heritage-driven.
Instead, there’s a nice tension between the classic and the new: familiar leatherwork and signature details alongside relaxed shapes, playful styles, unexpected colours and fashion-forward iterations of its most recognisable styles.

Which Coach Bags Are Most Popular?
Arguably, the Coach Tabby is one of the brand’s most recognisable and widely loved styles. It’s also one that continues to appear on celebrities, with Elle Fanning, Charli XCX and Ella Bright among those spotted carrying different versions of the bag.
A big part of the Tabby’s appeal is its versatility. It can be worn over the shoulder, carried by hand or styled as a longer crossbody, making it surprisingly adaptable for a bag with such a distinctive silhouette.
Then there’s the colour selection. Classic black, white and neutral leather options make the Tabby easy to slot into an existing wardrobe, while seasonal colourways and limited-edition iterations—including pillow leather versions—give the style a little more personality.
The Coach Brooklyn (and newly launched Pillow Brooklyn) has also become a standout, particularly after being spotted on Bella Hadid. Compared to the more structured Tabby, the Brooklyn has a relaxed, slouchy shape that feels rather effortless and cool. It’s the kind of bag that makes sense for anyone who likes to carry half their life with them without resorting to multiple bags.
There’s also the Chelsea Shoulder Bag, which is a slightly larger size than the Tabby and offers a more understated everyday silhouette. And for something smaller, the Kisslock Barrel Bag brings a slightly more playful take, with its compact barrel shape and distinctive kiss-lock closure on the front of the bag.
Which Coach Bag Should I Buy?
The right Coach bag ultimately comes down to how you dress, what you actually need to carry and, perhaps most importantly, which silhouette feels most like you.
If you’re looking for a throw-in-and-go style with enough room for everything from your everyday essentials to a laptop or extra layers, the Brooklyn is the obvious place to start.
For something more compact, the Tabby, Chelsea or Kisslock Barrel Bag are all worth considering. The Tabby feels a little more polished and fashion-forward, the Chelsea is understated enough to become a genuine everyday staple, while the Kisslock has a more playful, vintage-inspired feel.
There’s also colour to consider. If you’re buying your first Coach bag, a classic neutral will naturally get plenty of wear. But if your wardrobe is already filled with black, brown and beige, one of the brand’s more unexpected seasonal shades can be a surprisingly easy way to make an everyday outfit feel more considered.

Are Coach Bags Versatile Enough To Wear Every Day?
One of the things I find most appealing about Coach’s current offering is the range of silhouettes on offer. There’s no single definition of what a Coach bag looks like, which makes it much easier to find a style that works with your existing wardrobe.
A structured Tabby can work just as well with tailored trousers and loafers as it can with jeans and a simple tee, while the relaxed Brooklyn lends itself to off-duty dressing, oversized layers and the kind of outfit you wear when you’re running around the city all day.
And that’s perhaps the biggest reason Coach has managed to stay relevant: the designs are recognisable without feeling overly prescriptive. You can wear one with your morning coffee run, to lunch, to the office and straight through to dinner without it feeling like you’ve brought the wrong bag to the occasion.
Are Coach Bags Considered Luxury?
Coach sits within the accessible or affordable luxury category, offering the design details, materials and craftsmanship you’d typically associate with luxury handbags, but at a more approachable price point than many traditional luxury houses.
So while you might not put a Coach bag in quite the same category as a Hermès or Chanel handbag, it occupies its own space within the luxury accessories market—and that’s arguably part of its appeal.

What Makes Coach Bags Different From Other Handbag Brands?
For me, it’s the balance between heritage and modern design. Coach has more than 80 years of experience in leather goods, but its current handbag offering doesn’t feel stuck in the past.
The brand has a knack for taking classic handbag shapes and giving them a distinctly Coach update, whether that’s through its signature hardware, leather treatments, proportions or unexpected colours.
The Tabby is a great example: the silhouette is instantly recognisable, but the number of sizes, materials and seasonal versions means it can look completely different depending on which one you choose.
