Six months ago, Jennifer Lopez dropped her three-step nighttime skincare routine, and understandably, the internet went wild for it. While we tried not to be greedy, we couldn’t help but hold out for the star’s morning routine, and it seems our patience has finally paid off.
Over the weekend, JLo graced Instagram with a bare face, coming to us from her bathroom. The 52-year old beauty was dressed in pink and white pajamas, sipping her morning coffee from a mug which read ‘hello gorgeous.”
“This is my actual bathroom. This is what it actually looks like every single day. This is how we do it,” she told the camera.
“If you want to look nice and smooth, you’ve got to take care of your skin,” Lopez said as she applied her serum. “You’ve got to take care of your skin, from the time you’re very young,” she continued.
Lopez kicked off her routine with a gel cleanser, followed by a serum and of course, sunscreen.
“The morning cleansing is really really important to set your face for the whole entire day,” she said before lathering up and rinsing with lukewarm water. “Not only did it get all the makeup and gave me that kind of like, extra clean feeling, but in a healthy way. I am in love with this cleanser.”
After her face is clean, Lopez said it’s really the second step which helps her achieve her signature flow.
“This is the secret ingredient—21 iterations of this to get it right,” she says about her That JLo Glow serum. “’People go, how do I get that glow, how do I get that glow? I put it in a bottle and say ‘here’.”
Lopez works the serum into her face, waiting for it to dry completely before moving onto the last step – sunscreen.
“From the time you’re very very young, you have to wear sunscreen, that is probably one of the biggest things that I did from a very young age that helped preserve my skin,” she said.
Well, there you have it, the secret to her signature glow. And who could have ever believed it’s just three steps long? We admire her efficiency.
“Skincare is an inside job,” Lopez finished. “Beauty from the inside out is one of our models at JLo Beauty, and that is spiritually, emotionally, metaphorically, but also really really practically.”
