Are Cowboy Boots And Midi Dresses *The* Transeasonal Wardrobe Staple? Em Rata Thinks So

The supermodel doesn’t let the seasons dictate her, she dictates the seasons.

While summer rages on in the Northern Hemisphere, the celebrity style set are stepping out in lightweight and skin clad ensembles that are making a case for 2022 to finally be the season of ‘hot girl summer’.

Now, supermodel Emily Ratajkowski has bucked the trend by taking to the front row at Milan’s Menswear Fashion Week in an outfit that in any other circumstance would find itself in the winter wardrobes of ‘It girls’ everywhere.

Attending the eccentric and zany JW Anderson Spring 2023 collection presentation (you know, the one that sent models down the runway wearing skateboards and bicycle handlebars), Emily proved that she doesn’t let the season dictate hershe dictates the season.

With the weather in Milan reaching highs of mid 30°C, Emily turned to her tried and tested winter wardrobe staple for the perfect balmy ensemble: cowboy boots and a black midi dress.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this boot style reclaimed by cool girls as the perfect addition to your summer arsenal.

The perennially stylish Kendall Jenner rounds out her California chic wardrobe with the cult-favourite cowboy aesthetic, proving that western fever can strike at any moment.

For the occasion, Emily donned a tan, leather, knee-high variation from JW Anderson (a riff on the platform style debuted in the designer’s FW/22 menswear collection) with an asymmetrical draped black midi dress.

Emily completed the look with a candy-toned burst of colour by accessorising her look with the sorbet-inspired Bumper Bag. This creation is something straight out of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

With the bag already coveted by the likes of Dua Lipa and Charli XCX, we’re sure the summer-esque colours will be providing a much needed reprieve from the grey skies and neutral palettes we’ll be wearing this season.

As for our summer dresses? We’ll be taking our cues from Emily and keeping them at arms reach.
