Amal Clooney Is Pioneering A PVC Heel Revival During Her Recent Street Style Reign

It’s clear to see why this trend will be making a comeback.

Amal Clooney has long been at the top of our workwear wardrobe mood board ever since we first spotted the award-winning human rights lawyer on the arm of George Clooney back in 2013.

Now, the 44-year-old barrister is proving that her closet has more to offer than her signature approach to corporate dressing.

In the past week, Clooney has been making the rounds in New York City leaving a trail of street style photos showcasing that her enviable aesthetic extends further than the boardroom.

While in town to attend the United Nations Security Council ‘Arria-formula’ meeting, Clooney has swapped her tried-and-tested business-formal ensembles for something a little more on the sensual side, with streamlined and skin tight silhouettes that flash a hint of skin.

Of course, Amal is no stranger to high-glamour attire thanks to her prowess on the red carpet and her attendance at countless galas, however Clooney’s NYC style is unlike we’ve ever seen her before.

Taking to an upmarket Manhattan restaurant, Clooney donned a crystal-adorned and slightly-cropped cami, which the perennially stylish humanitarian styled with 70s inspired blue denim jeans and a single breasted boxy blazer.

A day later, Clooney turned heads in a body-conscious bandage inspired midi dress from local New York label Sukeina.

Unfortunately for us, this monochrome-yet-mighty dress is straight from the atelier floor. Amal’s wardrobe is made to order, as it should be for one of the most powerful attorneys in the world.

However, it seems that Amal has been using this fashion renaissance to secretly campaign for the PVC heel to make a comeback. During her trip, Clooney has rocked the Gianvito Rossi nude-illusion style twice during her nights out and it’s clear to see why.

If you cast your mind back to 2016, Public Desire’s perspex heel PVC boots had unknowingly set off a trend of transparent vinyl kicks being the look du jour.

Then, the likes of the Kar-Jenner catapulted the PVC pump into a new stratosphere, paving the way for the likes of Amina Muaddi to make the patent heels a mainstay.

And thanks to Amal, the PVC heel has once again been cemented as the ultimate transeasonal shoe and the perfect addition to your ‘out of office’ attire for those TGIF after work drinks. If it’s good enough for the United Nations council, it’s good enough for us.
