When one hears the name Gwyneth Paltrow, it’s almost immediately followed by thoughts of jade eggs or peculiar-scented candles. But what we often forget is the Goop founder’s penchant for show stopping fashion moments.
Ever since Gwyneth won an Academy Award for her role in the 1999 film Shakespeare In Love, how we viewed leading lady fashion on the red carpet changed forever.
And it seems that the wellness savant knows her cultural impact too.
In a recent exclusive video for Goop, Gwyneth gave fans a first-hand tour of her enviable archives, including the iconic loafers she wore as Margot Tenenbaum in The Royal Tenenbaums (because she wasn’t allowed to take the character’s Hermès Birkin bag from set) and the shoes she wore to the 1999 Oscars.
From her ’90s grunge (see: a “IDGAF” white Calvin Klein shirt dress) to her own Goop creations, some of Gwyneth’s most recent red carpet moments even get a special mention in the video, particularly the Valley Of The Dolls-esque Chloe gown that she wore to the 2019 Met Gala.
While she is known for her polished sense of style, her wardrobe has had quite the transformation throughout the past 30 years and it would be a shame to ignore her former fashion ensembles, as well as her current ones.
Of course, Gwyneth couldn’t take us through her wardrobe and not give a nod to her go-to designer of choice: Gucci.
In case you were wondering what treasure troves Gwyneth has archived, as she put it, “for when these come back in style or for Apple“, the style star has kept a hold of a pair of Gucci Horsebit heels from Tom Ford’s first ever collection and that iconic velvet suit.
But it’s not just her wardrobe that is packed with memorable ensembles, Gwyneth’s rare red carpet appearances are especially unforgettable.
Even now, the 50-year-old is still showing us how its done, whether its tiered silhouettes and feathered trims or her penchant for canary yellow and baby pink, she’s getting more chic as the years go by.
So as we celebrate Gwyneth’s wardrobe, we look back at some of her most memorable (and best) style moments to date below.
