Naomi Campbell has lived a truly colourful life, with one of the most illustrious careers in the fashion industry.
But who has been able to capture this unicorn’s heart?
Campbell is notoriously quiet about her personal life (something she says she learned off her once-rumoured flame, Robert De Niro). She’s even managed to keep the birth of her two children largely under wraps. But we’ve tracked down a few past lovers on the record.
Robert De Niro, Early 1990s
This couple never went public, but it was rumoured they dated for several years, and Campbell was crazy about the actor.
In 2012, Vogue reported that Campbell wanted De Niro to be the father of her children.
“Naomi’s friends Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer have babies, and she wants one too,” a source reportedly said. “She met De Niro again for drinks in New York a few weeks back and then they went back to her place. Naomi feels he is the calm thing in her life. He was the one she would call at night whenever she needed someone to talk to, and this is the first time in a long time that he’s single and available.”
However, Campbell confirmed the romance nearly a decade later, when she told The Times:
“Whatever they say about me, I have remained friends with all my exes … except the last one,” she said, (“the last one” presumed to be Vladimir Doronin). “I saw Robert De Niro just before lockdown.”
Adam Clayton, 1992-1993
Naomi reportedly dated U2 band member Adam Clayton between 1992 and 1993 after he said in an interview that one thing he desired but did not have was “A date with Naomi Campbell.”
In 2015, she confirmed the two were still friends.
“I’m friends with the whole [of U2]. The whole band were great. Their kids are all grown up,” she said.
“It’s nice to know people for so long and still have a relationship… I only have very positive things to say about him. I am very proud of Adam.”
Leonardo DiCaprio, 1995
Naomi and Leo were rumoured to have had a fling in 1995, and remain on friendly terms. They were even seen on holiday together in 2013.
Here they are in 2010 at a tiger conservation event together, along with Campbell’s then-boyfriend, Vladislav Doronin.
Flavio Briatore, 1998-2003
Naomi has had few long-term loves, and one was former formula one boss, Flavio Briatore.
The pair dated for around five years, becoming engaged in 1999 after a year of dating. The two eventually broke things off but remain friends.
Meanwhile, Flavio went on to date Campbell’s supermodel peer, Heidi Klum, and is the father to Heidi’s oldest child, Leni.
There’s no bad blood between the acquaintances, with the three taking a snap together at the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, also with Briatore’s ex-wife, Elisabetta Gregoraci.
Vladislav Doronin, 2008-2013
One of Naomi’s only other publicly confirmed, long-term relationships was with Vladislav Doronin.
Doronin is a Russian billionaire and real estate developer. He is the owner of luxury hotel and travel business Aman Resorts.
In 2020 it was revealed Campbell had sued Doronin, with him suing her right back.
While Naomi has had plenty of rumoured flames along the way, from Usher to Liam Payne, she is thought to currently be single.
