After months of rumours, Tom Brady has finally publicly addressed his divorce with Gisele Bündchen.

Speaking to sports podcaster Jim Gray on Let’s Go!, Brady revealed that the split was an “amicable” situation between the pair.

“Obviously, the good news is it’s a very amicable situation, and I’m really focused on two things: taking care of my family, and certainly my children, and secondly doing the best job I can to win football games. That’s what professionals do,” he said.

Brady continued to explain that he was compartmentalising things by focussing on his performance while training and playing, and then prioritising his personal life when he comes home.

“All you can do is the best you can do. That’s what I’ll just continue to do as long as I’m working and as long as I’m being a dad.”

The separation follows a rumoured fight they had several months ago which sparked the pair’s split, according to sources who spoke to Page Six

“I never actually thought this argument would be the end of them, but it looks like it is,” an insider told the publication.

“I don’t think there will be any coming back now. They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be.”

In mid-October, Gisele made a cryptic gesture that asserted she is looking out for herself—and not settling for anything less than she deserves. The model commented on a post made by motivational speaker Jay Shetty which featured a quote reading: “You can’t be in a committed relationship with someone who is inconsistent with you. Read that again.”

Bündchen shares two children with Brady—Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, nine. Brady also has a 15-year-old son, Jack, from a previous relationship.

Unnamed sources say that the pair have a joint custody arrangement and are both “very involved” in their lives.

The estranged couple are most likely filing for divorce in their primary home state of Florida, and will look to divide their USD $26 million property portfolio (almost AUD $40 million).

Brady and Bündchen began dating in 2006 and married in Santa Monica in February 2009.

What was the “fight” between Gisele and Tom about?

In September 2022, reports claimed Bündchen had left her family home in Florida following a series of arguments over Brady’s decision to reverse his retirement from the NFL and return to the sport.

A source told Page Six that  the pair were “in a fight” and that it wasn’t the first time, but they had always reunited in the past.

“There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids,” a source explained.

“They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind.”

In August, Brady missed 11 days of training with his team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers: “It’s all personal… everyone’s got different situations they’re dealing with,” he said at the time.

“We all have really unique challenges to our life. I’m 45 years old, man. There’s a lot of sh*t going on.”

Meanwhile, Bündchen alluded to challenges in her relationship in an interview with British Vogue a few months earlier.

“I don’t think relationships just happen; it’s never the fairy tale people want to believe it is,” she said in the May interview.

“It takes work to be really in sync with someone, especially after you have kids. [Brady’s] focus is on his career, mine is mostly on the kids.”

In September, Bündchen explained to ELLE US that she had concerns about Brady’s commitment to the physical sport.

“This is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” she explained.

“I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”
