IKEA Has Collaborated With Esteemed Designer Zandra Rhodes And It’s A Kaleidoscope Of Colour

Anyone else have the urge to redesign now?

When you think of IKEA, what do you typically think of? Those iconic blue bags, or spending hours getting lost in the mock-up rooms. The brand name will probably conjure up a lot of different memories, but their latest endeavour will change the way you think about it dramatically.

In a bold new move, the Swedish retail giant has collaborated with esteemed designer Zandra Rhodes, to explore how bold patterns and bright colours can be incorporated in the home. Titled, KARISMATISK, the collection is a celebration of fearless self-expression, made up of 26 statement-making pieces.

As you can likely tell from the collection, Dame Zandra Rhodes is known for her fearless approach to style, using bold patterns and colours to add charisma and charm to the home.

The collection is designed to be mixed-and-matched, with no right or wrong way to style it (but probably the bolder the better). You can group a few colourful vases together or add one decorative cushion to your couch — the sky is well and truly the limit.

“It’s the sort of collection that people can just take one piece of and it can lighten up their lives or they can take several pieces,” Zandra said in a statement.

In classic IKEA fashion, the collection is functional as well, with recycled materials being incorporated wherever possible, with a less-is-more approach.

“The IKEA team really get the Zandra Rhodes aesthetic, and because of this we just bounce off one another. The design process has been organic and genuine, and this is seen throughout the whole collection”, says Zandra Rhodes. “It’s been a wonderful adventure. On a practical side, it’s been very exciting trying to translate the ‘Zandra Rhodes: World of Colour’ for the many people to have a bit of it”.

From November 2021, the collection will be available at IKEA Richmond, Rhodes, Logan and online at www.ikea.com.au.
