Jennifer Aniston & David Schwimmer Sent The Internet Into Meltdown Over Dating Rumours

But everything isn't necessarily as it seems.

On Wednesday, the world collectively went into meltdown after a rumour claiming that Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer are dating IRL went viral.

The actors who played iconic TV on-again-off-again couple Rachel Green and Ross Gellar in Friends sent were *apparently* spotted together at a vineyard, and per UK publication Closer, a source (who’s either exactly like us and manifested this relationship in their imagination, or they genuinely believed it was the real deal) came forward with some intriguing details.

“After the reunion, it became clear that reminiscing over the past had stirred up feelings for both of them and that chemistry they’d always had to bury was still there,” the source told the publication.

They added: “They’ve been spending time at Jen’s home, where she’s cooked dinners in the evenings, and have enjoyed quality time together, chatting and laughing.

“They were also spotted drinking wine, deep in conversation, as they walked around one of Jen’s favourite vineyards in Santa Barbara, where it was clear there was lots of chemistry between them.”

But perhaps its best to take their word with a grain of salt (sad times, we know). David’s rep has since made a statement to the UK’s HuffPostexplaining the rumours were not true.

The statement was later followed up by a spokesperson for Jennifer Aniston, who said the Friends actors wee just that—friends

The wild news came after the pair sent the fandom into meltdown during the Friends reunion earlier this year when they both admitted to “crushing hard” on each other while they filmed the sitcom back in the day.

“At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other,” Schwimmer explained.

“But it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship.”

He added: “We never crossed that boundary —we respected that.”

Co-star Matt LeBanc piped up at that moment, saying, “bullshit” before joking revealing he was only pulling our legs… yea, right.

Aniston also confirmed Schwimmer’s feelings were reciprocated.

“I remember saying at one point to David, ‘It’s going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is on national television!’ Sure enough, the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop,” Aniston said of the iconic scene in Central Perk.

Of course, the internet had strong feelings about the explosive claims from Closer‘s source, with a flurry of perfectly apt Friends related memes flooding Twitter.

And whether the pair are dating or not, there’s no denying how much we all love a nostalgic throwback or cheeky reference to the iconic sitcom.

Just last week, Aniston shared a picture of herself wearing a hat featuring the famous quote from Friends that truly split the nation: “We were so [NOT] on a break!”.

Keep ’em coming, Jen.
