Kate Middleton has paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II by wearing a specially curated outfit to the funeral at Westminster Abbey.

The Princess of Wales arrived at the funeral in an all black outfit featuring a double breasted blazer and a black hat with a netting finish.

In a special tribute, Kate wore the Japanese Pearl Choker necklace which was once treasured by the late Monarch. It featured a three-tiered pearl chain with a large stone in the middle. The Princess also wore pearl earrings—pearls are worn as a special tradition for royals during times of mourning.

The Princess has paid tribute to the Queen several times with her choice in outfits over the last 10 days.

On September 14, Kate visited Westminster Hall where the Queen’s remains lay in state wearing the Monarch’s own diamond leaf brooch which features a trio of pearls. Her Majesty was last seen wearing it in 1999 on her 73rd birthday, which she celebrated while visiting South Korea’s capital, Seoul.

Then over the weekend, the royal attended an engagement at Buckingham Palace wearing a three-tiered pearl necklace which famously belonged to the Queen and was worn by her on multiple occasions.

Speaking to PEOPLE, a former aide of the Queen’s told the publication that the necklace was the history-making monarch’s daily go-to.

“She wasn’t interested in material things at all. She wore the same pearl necklace every day.”

Kate also wore a pair of earrings previously owned by Her Majesty while visiting military personnel at the Army Training Centre Pirbright. The pearl drop earrings must have been gifted to Kate by the Queen several years ago as the Princess has worn them at least four times.
