While we’ve sadly crossed ‘Kim Cattrall returning to Sex and the City‘ off our wish list for 2022, it seems that the beloved actress may be making a comeback to the Darren Star extended universe after all.
Although the actress is adamant that she’ll never appear in the Sex And The City spinoff, And Just Like That, it turns out there’s a strong possibility that she’ll be appearing in another one of the producers projects: Emily In Paris.
Of course, eagle eyed fans will remember we’ve already seen a crossover between the shows. In AJLT’s ninth episode French actor William Abadie, who portrays Antoine Lambert in Emily In Paris, made a surprise cameo as a suave club owner, so the likelihood of Kim Cattrall showing up as a Samantha-esque character isn’t too far of a reach, right? Right?
Well, either our wish is finally coming true or Kim Cattrall is just teasing us all, because, lo and behold, the 66-year-old star made an appearance at the Emily In Paris season three premiere.
Thankfully, this red carpet moment when down better than Samantha’s awkward, albeit affectionate, run in with Miley Cyrus in Sex And The City 2.
Kim may be living up to the name of the Sex And The City finale, ‘An American Girl In Paris (Part Duex)—Lily Collins is clearly part one—we can’t help but think her showing up at the premiere is more than mere coincidence.
As we know the showrunner Darren Star has already admitted to Variety that he would love Cattrall to appear in Emily In Paris as a guest star. “I would love to find something nice and juicy for her to do,” he said. As would we Darren, as would we.
So, what role could Kim-slash-Samantha be playing?
Abadie revealed to Deadline at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival that he’s hoping Star will bring in a love interest for his dapper, immaculately dressed, perfume company-owning character Antoine. “I need a mistress, don’t I? I think I need a mistress. Please, Mr. Star. I need a mistress. Preferably blonde, preferably British and preferably brilliant,” he said.
Know anyone that fits the bill? We sure do.
However, it’s safe to say the guest appearance won’t go ahead without approval from Kim herself.
Thankfully, the 65-year-old has already weighed in on what she thinks about the show. “I think Darren got it right with Emily in Paris. It’s a young show. It’s about young ideals. It’s about discovery,” the actress said to Variety.
After all, isn’t her appearance at the premiere proof of her tick of approval?
If Cattrall does choose to reprise her iconic role as Samantha, the star has already advised that the sex-positive PR executive won’t be appearing in any future sex scenes. “I don’t want to be nude anymore. I’m 65. I’m in great shape. But I’m just not interested. I feel like I filled my quota on that one,” she said to the publication.
Either way, we’re going to need to see a scene between Samantha and Sylvie in our lifetime. Who do we have to call to make that happen?
