Breakfast At Tiffany’s Almost Starred Another Hollywood Icon

We can't even imagine this.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of the most iconic films of all time, and that’s mostly down to its star, Audrey Hepburn.

Who hasn’t gone as Holly Golightly to a dress-up party, casually strolled passed Tiffany’s in their big sunnies with a coffee and a pastry or named their cat, Cat (well, at least thought about it anyway).

However imagine a world, if you can, in which Audrey Hephurn never starred as Holly Golightly. Because according to a new documentary called Crazy About Tiffany’s that was very nearly the case.

According to the documentary it was actually blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe who was originally considered for the role.

“What’s interesting is in the film we mention that Marilyn Monroe was originally being considered for the role,” director Matthew Miele told The Telegraph.

“It changed everything about the image so I think they lucked out with that.”

“Audrey was aligned with Tiffany’s but not in any kind of contract,” Miele added.

“Through Breakfast at Tiffany’s she’s become like the face of it. I think a lot of women aspire to be like that refined, cultivated, sophisticated image that Audrey represented.”
