Brooke Shields has recalled details of a date with John F. Kennedy Jr., including his unsettling reaction to her refusal to sleep with him.

In an interview on The Howard Stern Show, Shields, 57, said she had been “so madly in love” with Kennedy since the age of three.

“My mum would say, ‘That’s the boy you’re going to marry’,” she remembered.

The Pretty Baby actress went on to recall meeting JFK Jr. as a young woman on the ski slopes of Aspen, where she tried to impress him despite never having skied before.

“I had to get ski-lifted because I… couldn’t get off the mountain. And he didn’t help me!”

She went on to say that, despite their first encounter, the pair did pursue each other romantically during the trip.

“We did have a real date, and I wouldn’t sleep with him.”

The date started at a pub with the rest of the Kennedy family, before JFK Jr. asked Shields, “Do you want to get out of here?” she said.

“And I was like, ‘Uh, yeah, I do want to get out of here, John Kennedy’,” she went on.

“He kissed me, and it was like the best kiss I’ve ever had in my life… It was beyond not-disappointing. The lips are beautiful, and the face is amazing … and he was down to earth and funny and irreverent.”

But despite their attraction, Shield says she “froze” when JFK Jr. implied that he wanted to take things further.

“It was so precious to me and I was like, ‘Oh my god, you’re falling in love and if you sleep with him, he may not talk to you again and you can’t handle that’,” she said.

“I wasn’t playing a game. I really was just, I was so afraid of being really hurt because if I slept with him I would’ve given him my entire universe.”

“I had to get a cab home, which was a little less than chivalrous in my opinion.”

Shields also said a second run-in with JFK Jr. re-assured her that she had made the right decision, telling Stern:

“I saw him the next day on the slope and he didn’t look at me and he didn’t talk to me. On the one hand, I was like ‘sh-t!’ On the other hand, I was like, ‘Thank God… He showed his true colours.’”

The interview comes just days after the US release of Shields new documentary, Brooke Shields: Pretty Baby.

In the two-part film, which is yet to be released in Australia, Shields recalls her earliest memories of growing up in Hollywood, including a sexual assault she suffered at the hands of an executive in her early twenties.
