Donald Trump Cuts Funding To The World Health Organisation Amid Global Pandemic

“So much death has been caused by their mistakes," the US President claims

President Donald Trump has announced he cut funding to the World Health Organisation while his administration “reviews the group’s response to the coronavirus pandemic”. He’s been increasingly critical of the organisation’s early response to the health crisis as he’s sought to deflect criticism over his administration’s slow response to the outbreak.

“Today I’m instructing my administration to stop funding of the WHO while a review is conducted to assess the WHO’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus,” President Trump said.

He accused the organisation of costing human lives when it opposed his travel ban, saying they “put political correctness above human lives”.

“So much death has been caused by their mistakes,” the president said.

New York City, already an epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, increased its death toll by more than 3,700 on April 14, after officials said they were now including people who had never tested positive for the virus but were presumed to have died because of it. The US combined has a total of 610,688 confirmed cases of the virus, with 25,658 deaths.
