You could almost hear the sound of millions of women swooning as Ryan Gosling delivered his heartfelt Golden Globes speech – on stage to accept Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for La La Land, he thanked his “sweetheart” for her unwavering love and support.

Now, Eva Mendes has responded – subtly, now – on her Instagram. Posting a photo of singer/actress Janelle Monae’s Golden Globes look, Mendes wrote, “Obviously this wasn’t my favourite photo of the night… by it was definitely my favourite style moment of the night.”
In his speech, Gosling thanked his wife for caring for their daughter, saying, “While I was singing and dancing and playing the piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer.”
He then dedicated his win to Mendes’ brother, Juan Carlos, who lost his battle with cancer in April 2016.
