Game Of Thrones Creators Confirm It Will End With Season 8

Say it isn't so!

HBO has confirmed that the eighth season of Game of Thrones will be its last, leaving fans everywhere disappointed.

HBO programming director Casey Bloys announced the news for the Television Critics Association press tour, saying that the amount of episodes left in the season was still up in the air, but would likely be about six episodes.

“Yes, I think [the showrunners, DB Weiss and David Benioff] have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do.”

While the show creators have spoken about potentially doing a spinoff series, there aren’t concrete plans for this yet.

“We’ve talked about it. It’s something I’m not opposed to, but of course it has to make sense creatively,” he said.

“I’m open to it. [Benioff and Weiss] weren’t opposed to it, but there’s no concrete plans for it at this point.”

Many fans are left wondering how such an intricate storyline will be wrapped up with just thirteen episodes left of Game of Thrones, but as “All men must die”, all shows must die eventually too.

Season 7 will be airing in June 2017.
