Tributes Pour In For Woman With A “Heart Of Gold” Killed After Lightning Strike

The freak accident happened in Melbourne's east

Lauren Brownlee and her boyfriend Ben Hollow had pulled their car over on the side of the road in Melbourne to watch a thunderstorm roll in on Friday night.

Twenty-five-year Lauren and her partner were standing near a tree at Chirnside Park when they were hit by lighting.

The freak occurrence left Ben with severe burns to his legs and sent Lauren into cardiac arrest.

According to 7 News, passerby Brandon Cleine rushed to the couple’s aid on the side of the road. But Lauren could not be saved.

“It’s tragic. I can still picture her lying on the ground, I can still see Ben lying on the ground,” he explained. “I can still see her face. I’ll never get that face out of my mind.”

The couple were both rushed to Alfred Hospital, where Lauren later died and Ben remains in a serious condition.

Tributes have poured in for Lauren, who had moved to Melbourne from Wagga Wagga and was working in real estate.

“She just had the biggest heart of gold,” her cousin Ayla told 9NEWS.

“She just always saw the best in everyone and everything.

“She just had this awe about her, no matter what she would put a smile on her face.”

A crowdfunding page has been set up to raise money for Lauren’s funeral.

“Our beautiful Lauren was taken so tragically from us Saturday morning and would like to raise funds to help her dad to bring her home and provide a beautiful service to celebrate her magical life,” the page reads.
