The Academy has announced a return for the 2024 Oscars, officially setting a date for Hollywood’s night of nights.

Whether you’re in it for the frocks or the films, after an incredible year of cinema, you’ll definitely want to mark this one in your calendars.

Each year the Oscars celebrates what the academy and its members deem the year’s best films, paying tribute to all the art forms that contribute to their creation. And, boy, what a year it has been in cinemas.

Perhaps you remember a little record-breaking film called Barbie (or its rival, Oppenheimer)? The year’s biggest box office hits will now go head-to-head for accolades with the films’ casts, writers and directors rumoured to be receiving nods.

While a nominees list is yet to be announced, you can expect to see films like Poor Things, Saltburn and perhaps even Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour film on the ballot.

And let’s not forget the red carpet. While we’re hanging in to see how Margot Robbie follows up the phenomenal looks of her Barbie press tour, rumoured nominees like Florence Pugh, Emma Stone, Greta Lee and more are also expected to be there to serve on the red carpet.

Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s Academy Awards, including when and where to watch the broadcast.
