The 29th Critics Choice Awards are just around the corner, and some of our favourite Australian talent are in the mix.

Slated for January 2024, the night of nights will commend the best film and television of the year before, and with the nominees for the small screen now available, it’s shaping up to be a close competition.

Leading the charge so far with six nominations overall is US hit Morning Wars, while Aussie actress Sarah Snook is up for Best Actress for her work in Succession, and Bluey is in the mix for Best Animated Series.

Below, everything you need to know about the Critics Choice Awards for 2024.

When Are The 2024 Critics Choice Awards?

The 2024 Critics Choice Awards will be broadcast at 7pm ET on January 14, 2024. If you’re tuning in from Australia, that’s 11am AEDT on January 15.

While there’s no news on specific red carpet timing, we can expect this to begin in the hours leading up to the official ceremony.

Where To Watch The 2024 Critics Choice Awards From Australia?

The ceremony is yet to be attached to an Australian broadcaster, but we expect it to be picked up by a major network like 7, 9, or 10.

In recent years, it’s also been available to livestream via the Critics Choice website.

Who Is Hosting The 2024 Critics Choice Awards?

The 2024 iteration will again be hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler.

“I am very happy and excited to be hosting the Critics Choice Awards again this year, as last year was one of the most fun nights I’ve had,” Handler said in a statement. “There is no greater reward than making fun of actors and then getting drunk with them afterward. It’s an honour.”

How Are The Winners Of The Critics Choice Awards Decided?

According to Critics Choice CEO Joey Berlin, winners are decided by a voting body of approximately 600 film and television critics and reporters.

“The Critics Choice Awards represents the year-end consensus of opinion among the leading critics and entertainment journalists who cover film and TV professionally,” he said. “The awards are significant to audiences and the industry alike. While the gold standard awards — the Oscars and the Emmys — are voted on by those who make movies and TV, the Critics Choice Awards are voted on by the people who watch and judge these arts for a living.”
