Farmer Thomas has apparently gone missing from his farm – and the Farmer Wants A Wife experiment – after a heated exchange resulted in the 35-year-old Kimba local storming out of Tuesday night’s episode.
The altercation, teased at the end of episode 11 on Monday 27 May, was the result of a heated conversation between himself and front-runner Clarette after it was revealed that Farmer Thomas was still in contact with ex-contestant, Claire, again.
One minute he was canoodling with Clarette on the verandah, next minute he was making tracks for his truck, screeching away into the night while a raging Clarette was overheard saying “Everything has been a lie. Everything… you f**king prick.”
Clarette’s candour was enough to send Farmer Thomas over the edge, leaving viewers questioning whether the disgruntled grazier had indeed gone missing, or he was just experiencing some big farmer feelings.
Did Farmer Thomas Really Go Missing From FWAW?
Now, insiders have revealed what really went on behind-the-scenes of the explosive argument and why it resulted in the continued absence of Farmer Thomas. “They did that just for drama,” a source told Woman’s Day. “It was one of the producer’s tactics to keep the ladies on their toes to say Farmer Thomas had gone missing.” A production ploy, revealed the insider, that even the man himself was in on: “He was told not to reveal too much to Clarette… to keep her guessing,” the source added. “But the guy’s a terrible liar, so it just came across like he wasn’t interested.”
Although it’s later revealed that Clarette wasn’t alone in her frustration with Farmer Thomas, production thought it would be beneficial to put a little bit of space between the two. After all, they do say that absence makes the heart grow fonder – but in the case of a questionable connection to an ex-contestant – does it really?
“Farmer Thomas was held back from filming that day and producers told everyone, including the other farmers, he had gone missing,” the insider shared. “Heightening his absence just to mess with Clarette.”
“They got a lot of good content by removing him from the usual shooting schedule, allowing Clarette and Rachel no choice but to loop the two newer girls in on how much Claire and Farmer Thomas were still communicating,” the source continued.
Is Claire Returning To Farmer Thomas On Farmer Wants A Wife?
There’s definitely been some simmering tension bubbling away under the surface, ever since Claire decided to leave Farmer Wants A Wife.
This isn’t the first time that Farmer Thomas has been questioned about his ongoing communication with Claire, after he let it slip that he’d gone to visit her earlier in the season for “some closure.”
At the time, Clarette called him out for it, threatening to leave if he was unable to cut all ties, and for a while, things seemed to be going smoothly. That was until the most recent episode, when his apparent inability to turn things around came to a head.
However, according to the same insider, everything might not be exactly as it seems, especially when it comes to the constructed dynamic between the two women.”These two women were supposed to be pitted against each other on camera right until the end,” revealed the source.
Keen to keep the drama flowing, producers allegedly began dropping hints to Clarette: “They’d casually tease the idea that Claire could be coming back,” the insider added.
“It kept Clarette constantly second-guessing herself and Farmer Thomas. Clarette could write a book on what happened!”
Whether the two are able restore the balance after their biggest blowout to date, is yet to be seen. But here’s hoping Farmer Thomas can keep his cool enough to get his head back in the wife-finding game before the other ladies decide to leave.
