It feels safe to say hearts collectively broke during tonight’s episode of Farmer Wants A Wife, as viewers watched Renae break down before deciding to leave the show following her dwindling connection with Farmer Dylan.
Speaking exclusively to marie claire Australia, Renae opened up about the heartbreak of feeling overlooked by Farmer Dylan, admitting she never felt she was given the same opportunity as the other women to explore their connection.
Despite sharing what appeared to be an instant spark during their blind date, Renae said she believes Dylan had already made up his mind shortly after she arrived on the farm.
“I have no idea why he lost interest,” she said. “I think he may have made up his mind about me from the very first day on the farm because I was more on the quieter side.”
Renae explained that her reserved nature wasn’t a reflection of disinterest, but rather the nerves that came with navigating an unfamiliar environment while cameras recorded their interactions.

“I’ve never been in that sort of situation before,” she said. “He just made me really nervous, and I think the cameras added to that as well.”
As the days went on, Renae said she found herself trying to connect with Dylan, but never felt the effort was reciprocated.
“I felt like, no matter how much I tried, no matter what I did, he just didn’t seem to notice me,” she admitted. “I can’t force someone to be interested.”
While viewers have largely seen Renae as one of the quieter contestants this season, she believes the final edit didn’t tell the full story.
“They made me look like a quiet little mouse,” she laughed. “I swear I wasn’t that quiet. I was just as involved in the experience as everyone else.”
According to Renae, many of her conversations with Dylan never made it to air, leaving audiences without the full picture of their relationship.
“There were so many conversations and interactions between Dylan and I that didn’t make the final edit,” she said. “It would’ve given viewers a better understanding of what really happened between us.”
Looking back, Renae admitted she still doesn’t feel she received the closure she was hoping for, despite their final conversation at the country fair.
“I was just so emotional,” she recalled. “I was disappointed, confused and heartbroken all at once. I don’t think I really got closure because I never got the opportunity to show him who I truly am.”
The pair haven’t spoken since the show, with Renae revealing, “I think the most contact I’ve had with him is in the group chat messages with the other girls.”
Despite the disappointment, Renae says she has walked away with lasting friendships.
Describing life behind the scenes as “one big girl sleepover”, she revealed the women spent their downtime watching movies, shopping, getting their nails done and staying up talking for hours.
“The friendships I’ve made are honestly the most special part of the experience,” she said. “It was just so girlhood.”
