NEED TO KNOW
- Farmer Wants A Wife returned on June 8 at 7:00 pm AEST on Channel 7 and #7plus, after an unusually long wait following its traditional April premiere.
- Five farmers and 39 women are searching for love this season, with each farmer beginning the series with up to eight contestants.
- Unlike most reality dating shows, the series has a proven track record, producing more than 20 lasting couples and dozens of farmer babies across its 18-year run.
- The 2026 lineup has already generated buzz, with host Natalie Gruzlewski calling them the “hottest farmers ever.”
The 2026 season of Farmer Wants A Wife has kept us waiting. The beloved reality dating show, which usually premieres in April, has left us on the edge of our seats (or should that be saddles?) until June. Naturally, anticipation is running high.
This year’s lineup of farmers has already caused quite a stir, with fan-favourite host Natalie Gruzlewski seemingly not immune to their charms herself.
Dubbing them “the hottest farmers ever”, Gruzlewski admits in the trailer: “Sorry, I’m getting a bit distracted talking to you. You sound like the dream man.”
As for what these dream men are looking for? Farmer Alex, at least, tells marie claire Australia exclusively that he hopes to find someone who is “smart, open-minded and in touch with nature and their own physical health”.
The big question, of course, is whether any of the women stepping onto their farms fit the bill. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait much longer to find out. Farmer Wants A Wife has officially unveiled this season’s contestants, with each of the five farmers beginning their journey with eight hopeful romantics.
If you’re new to the show, think of it as The Bachelor meets rural life. Contestants still compete for love, going on dates and navigating romantic rivalries, but there’s an added challenge: determining whether they’re actually suited to life on the land. In other words, can they handle the realities of living on a farm?
However, unlike MAFS, where the final vows often mark the beginning of the breakup, Farmer Wants A Wife has become reality television’s unlikely success story. Over 18 years, the series has matched more than 20 enduring couples and welcomed an ever-growing crop of farmer babies.
So, without further ado, meet the contestants appearing on this season of Farmer Wants A Wife Australia. (Want to know more about the farmers themselves? We’ve got that covered, here.)

Farmer Dylan’s Contestants

At just 24, Dylan is already balancing an impressive number of passions. The sheep farmer and competitive rodeo cowboy from Cherry Gardens, South Australia, divides his time between running the family farm, caring for orphaned wildlife and chasing his dream of becoming a successful saddle bronc rider. Honest, hardworking and adventurous, Dylan admits his dedication to rodeo has come at a cost, contributing to the breakdown of past relationships.
Now, he’s ready to find someone to share that life with on Farmer Wants A Wife. While he’s looking for an assertive partner who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it, support is equally important. Whether he’s riding horses, exploring the outdoors or pursuing his ambitions, Dylan hopes to meet someone willing to back his dreams, just as he’s prepared to support hers.

Farmer Alex’s Contestants

If there’s one thing Farmer Alex wants you to know, it’s that romance isn’t dead. The 28-year-old cattle and mushroom farmer from Kin Kin, Queensland, is the first mushroom farmer to appear on Farmer Wants A Wife, helping run a thriving gourmet mushroom business alongside his family’s cattle operation.
Grounded, creative and endlessly curious, Alex was inspired to enter the mushroom industry after watching the documentary Fantastic Fungi and now spends much of his time growing specialty produce for restaurants and wellness products.
When he’s not working on the farm, you’ll find him cooking Italian and Japanese dishes, dancing, listening to live music or planning his next adventure.
Two years ago, Alex’s last serious relationship came to an end, with the pressures of running a farm and growing differences between them creating “tension” over time. While the demands of running two agricultural businesses have left little time for dating, Alex is hopeful the show will help him find the woman of his dreams.
