Following yesterday’s announcement that Taylor Swift would be releasing a new single, “Patient Zero,” the pop star has now gone one step further, unveiling The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, a deluxe edition of her latest album featuring four new songs.
Alongside the aforementioned “Patient Zero,” the expanded edition will include “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding,” and “Babylon.”
“About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind…” Swift wrote in an Instagram message.

“You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history. I took a trip to Sweden to celebrate with Max and Shellback, my two collaborators on this album. Really, we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs.”
She concluded: “I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made. The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, including four new songs, is out on Friday and available to pre-order and save now. ❤️🔥”
The announcement, in keeping with Swift’s affinity for an elaborate reveal, was preceded by a tantalising trail of Easter eggs interspersed throughout her recent work.
Among the clues were details hidden in her “Opalite” music video back in February, as well as a pre-taped cameo during last week’s Emmy Awards, when Swift joined host Mariska Hargitay for a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit spoof. In the parody, she delivered numerous cryptic phrases including “Saccharide, Aries, From The Vineyard, North or South,” prompting Swifties to embark on a collective sleuthing escapade that has become synonymous with her fanbase.
Fans soon cracked the code, with the seemingly nonsensical words revealing an anagram for the word “ENCORE.”
Swift’s deluxe release arrives at an especially auspicious moment, coinciding with her receipt of the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at Sunday’s 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
The nascent award celebrates “groundbreaking music artists whose work behind the camera has expanded the possibilities of music video and advanced the art of visual storytelling.”
Swift accompanied her announcement with an updated album image, photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, in which she appears in a short, glittering gold dress against a theatrical, stage-like backdrop à la The Life of a Showgirl aesthetic.
