Anthological series, The White Lotus, has become an instant phenomenon, so reports that a fourth season was greenlit, before season three had even aired, kind of made sense.
The good news for season four seemingly ends there, however. It’s been announced the show’s creator, Mike White, will be joining the next season of Survivor in the U.S.
For those scratching their heads, White is a long-time reality TV fanatic and came runner up in the 2018 “David vs. Goliath” series of the show.
Host and executive producer, Jeff Probst revealed White was basically begging to do another stint on the show.
“Mike, after he finished playing, said, ‘I want to play again,’ and that was before White Lotus,” Probst told CBS Mornings. “Then White Lotus hit and I thought, ‘Well, he’ll never play again.’ But he kept texting and saying, ‘Look, I’m serious, if you ever do anything where you have returning players, I want to play again.’”
So, where does that leave The White Lotus season four?
When Will Season Four Of The White Lotus Be Released?
With White heading to a Fijian island to film season 50 of Survivor, fans are right to worry about a potential delay for the next installment of the series. But, that may not be the case.
Per Variety, HBO has approved the next season with production being “eyed for 2026”. According to USA Today, Survivor will air in 2026, meaning filming will have already wrapped. By our calculations, HBO’s initial schedule could still work.
Given Season three began filming in February 2024 and premiered in February this year, we can probably expect a 2027 release date.
Is There A Trailer For White Lotus Season Four?
Not yet. The official Instagram account for the show confirmed the news shortly after it broke. In a painstakingly brief clip we can see the signature White Lotus graphics on a green backdrop with the words, “The White Lotus Season 4”.
Simple. Effective. Annoyingly devoid of any information.
The caption simply reads: “Good news travels fast. #TheWhiteLotus is excited to welcome you to a new destination.”
Where Will Season Four Of The White Lotus Be Filmed?
The next season will see the show stick to the status quo and head to a new holiday destination as confirmed by their Instagram announcement. Exactly where that will be, is yet to be announced but following the season three finale, White did drop a sneaky new clue.
“For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels,” he told Deadline.
Fans of the show will also be aware that each season of The White Lotus is filmed at a Four Seasons resort thanks to a well-established partnership between the luxury hotel chain and the HBO show. So, that does narrow down potential filming locations somewhat.
Then, there were these comments from HBO drama chief: “We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon,” Francesca Orsi told Deadline back in February. “I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe.”
There are a number of new resorts opening by the Four Seasons (if they were wanting to drum up some free promo) including Mykonos, Greece and Switzerland’s, Park Gstaad. We’d love to see a snow-bunny season of the show as White suggests.

Will Any White Lotus Cast Return For Season Four?
It may be an anthological series, but each season of The White Lotus has had a thread tying each together through the return of a past character. First, it was Tanya, then Greg and Belinda. So, who could it be, if anyone, for season four?
The season three cast seem to think Greg/Gary’s story isn’t over yet. After all, we didn’t get the revenge for Tanya’s death we so desperately seeked.
“Jon is like the barnacle of The White Lotus ship, he stays around,” Natasha Rothwell whoplayes Belinda told The Hollywood Reporter to which Walton Goggins (aka Rick) agreed: “It feels like Jon is going to be in every season. Sorry if I gave that away.”
Of course, there’s no confirmation. But, Jon Gries who plays Greg/Gary has revealed he’s all in.
“I would love to come back. But does the book on Greg seem like it’s complete? I can’t tell you.”
What Will Be The Plot Of Season Four?
Details are slim on this next chapter, but White previously promised season three would “be a supersized White Lotus”.
“It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier,” he told EW.
And surely, it’s only up from there when it comes season four storylines, right?
It’s also reported White has “already pitched ideas to Casey Bloys, the HBO and Max chief”. We’ll just have to wait and see what they are…
