Brace Yourselves: There’s A Genius Hack For Putting On Fitted Sheets And Our Lives Are Forever Changed

Making the bed will never be the same

No matter what age you are, there are just some facets of grown-up life that require a few wise words from your mother.

For many, a simple phone call can solve problems like how to nail her mouth-watering roast recipe or which cycle you should wash your cashmere jumper on. But there are simply some areas of adult life that one must battle on their own—or with the help of a hack.

In this case, it’s the cursed fitted sheet.

And while there’s simply no greater feeling than making your bed with freshly washed sheets, it’s getting those sheets on the bed that have us ready to call it quits and sleep on the bare mattress.

But fret not, because those days are over thanks to a genius hack that’s doing the rounds online.

According to a report on News.com.au, a matriarch—who we know owe so much to—took to Facebook to spread the good word, teaching us incapable bedmakers the easiest, and correct, way to slip on our fitted sheets stress-free.

Shared in the Facebook group, Mums Who Clean, this now-cherished piece of wisdom was revealed in the private community. And naturally, it took the internet by storm, holding onto the hack for dear life to pass the precious knowledge down to future generations.

In the group, a 52-year-old woman asked the fellow mothers who clean to respect her ignorance, admitting that she only just discovered the “game-changing” method herself.

“How many of you knew that when putting on bedding, (fitted sheets/top sheets) the label always goes top left or bottom right?” she wrote.

“The times I’ve started stretching the sheet across my king-size bed to have to take it off and turn it to the next corner!”

And clearly, she was far from alone with hundreds of other Facebook users admitting they too had “no idea”.

“Wow you learn something new every day,” one woman wrote, as per News.com.au.

“Omg the game just changed. I just recently got a king bed and I’m like why is this sh*t not fitting. Thank you so much!” another added.

“I’m 56 and never new [sic] this, but I’ve never had a problem with putting on fitted sheets either,” yet another woman revealed. “When I go home to Mums and make my bed with her, she still picks me up on which way the top sheet should be, I love it.”

So there you have it, the tag on the fitted sheet either goes on the top left or the bottom right.

Gone are the days of contorting your body across your bed just to have the bottom edge end up painfully stretching over the right side, leaving you to start all over again and consider giving it all up to spend the night on the couch.

Consider our lives changed.
