Just under two years since they eloped in a surprise Vegas ceremony, reports have emerged that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage is on the rocks.
The rumours began as a tabloid report, with InTouch claiming on May 15 that an “insider” told them, “The writing is on the wall—it’s over. They’re headed for a divorce—and for once, [Ben is] not to blame!” Other tabloids jumped in with their own sources in following days, including TMZ, who claimed the couple are living separately.
In the week following, things got increasingly confusing, with Affleck being spotted sans-ring; Lopez liking a cryptic Instagram post about unhealthy relationships; even more tabloid reports; and finally, the sale of their recently-purchased $60 million family home.
Ahead, we try to make some sense of the mixed reports that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are headed for divorce.
Tabloids Claim Bennifer Are Living Apart
Following the TMZ report that Affleck has been living alone in Brentwood, two other tabloids confirmed this via sources of their own.
A source told Us Weekly on May `16 that the pair are “having issues” and “on different pages,” but despite living apart right now, “aren’t splitting.”
On May 19, another insider told Entertainment Tonight: “Jen and Ben’s relationship is not over yet, but they have been staying in separate homes and the tension has been high. They are taking a second to figure out what each of them is going through and wants.”
Are Jen & Ben Still Wearing Their Wedding Rings?
In a photograph published by TMZ, Affleck was spotted without his wedding ring on May 17. However, he was snapped again two days later with the jewellery back on.
Lopez has seemingly been wearing her wedding band throughout the course of the rumours.
J Lo Liked An Instagram Post About Unhealthy Relationships
Per Page Six, last week Lopez was caught liking an Instagram post about unhealthy relationships.
The infographic-style post explained that “you cannot build a healthy relationship with somebody” who “lacks integrity and emotional safety,” “doesn’t respect your time,” “lacks communication skills” and “doesn’t know who they are or what they want.”
They Were Spotted Together, Smiling
On May 19, Lopez and Affleck were spotted driving in a car together following an event. In one photograph, they smile at the camera and appear relatively comfortable.
Lopez attended the premiere of Atlas the following day in Los Angeles, but Affleck did not appear to be in attendance.
Jennifer Lopez Cancels Her Global Tour
The divorce rumour mill is heating up, with the news that Lopez has cancelled her global This Is Me… Now tour. But it’s the reasoning the singer gave for cancelling the shows that has fans suspicious her marriage might be on the rocks.
Taking to her newsletter, On The JLo, Lopez wrote, “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down.”
“Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time …”
Could this be an indication that a divorce is imminent? Only time will tell.
The Couple Came Together For a Family Event
Bennifer engaged in some subtle PDA ahead of a family event on June 2. The couple united to watch Affleck’s 12-year-old son play basketball at the YMCA in Hollywood, where they were joined by Affleck’s mother, Christine Boldt, as well as his ex Jennifer Garner.
Ahead of the game, Affleck was photographed giving his wife a sweet peck on the cheek.
Bennifer Are Reportedly Selling Their $60 Million Family Home
On June 10, multiple outlets reported that the couple has put their family home on the market.
Lopez and Affleck purchased the Beverly Hills mansion for a whopping US^0.8 million just over a year ago, in May 2023.
The 4270 square-metre home boasts 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, an indoor sports complex and a 12 car garage, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Jennifer Lopez Shut Down A Question About The Rumoured Divorce
On May 23, JLo wasted no time shutting down a question about her relationship status during a press conference for her new movie, Atlas.
During the interview, an unidentified reporter took the opportunity to ask the singer: “Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumours?” to which JLo clapped back, “You know better than that.”
Fellow panellist, Simu Liu, had a little more to say, adding, “C’mon, don’t come in here with that energy.” He went on to defend JLo, who is a producer on the film, saying: “Okay, we’re not doing that. Thank you so much guys, we really appreciate it. Thank you.”

So, Are Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck Getting A Divorce?
While reports say the couple do not plan to divorce, they do suggest that Lopez and Affleck are in a difficult place right now.
In a May 21 report, a source told People their marriage simply “is not in the best place at the moment.” They claimed that the marital tension is down the the personality conflicts, with Lopez wanting to “open her heart to her fans and to the world,” and Affleck being “more introspective and private.”
However, the pair’s bond has remained for two decades, with Affleck and Lopez rekindling their romance in 2021, 17 years after they originally broke up. As the source noted, “There have always been clashes in their styles and how they handle issues, but nothing has stopped their love over the years.”
