Thought you knew everything there was to know about the world’s greatest rom-com, Love Actually? So did we. Until the Twittersphere picked up on the mind-boggling real-life age gap between two of the film’s main characters, almost 15 years after its release.
It turns out Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who played cuter-than-cute, hopelessly-in-love schoolboy Sam, wasn’t as young as you might think. He was 13 when the film premiered in November 2003, making him – wait for it – just five years younger than Keira Knightley.
Five. Years. Younger.
Knightley was 18 when she played newlywed Juliet. She’s now 32, and most recently starred in biographical drama Colette, while Brodie-Sangster, 27, plays Jojen Reed in Game of Thrones.
Meanwhile, we’re just over here, trying to get our heads around this bizarre new information about our favourite movie.
