Meet Nicole Ari Parker, The New Face Replacing Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones In ‘SATC’ Reboot

Sam Jones 2.0

While the mere thought of Sex And The City, and our favourite ladies, returning to our screens was enough to brighten up our entire year, the news that Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones would not be revisiting the reboot was enough to sour the entire moment.

However, while Cattrall’s absence will always be felt, there is a new face looking to fill the void she left behind—Nicole Ari Parker.

Playing Carrie Bradshaw’s new best friend, Lisa Todd Wexley, Ari Parker’s character is a documentary filmmaker, according to The Guardian.

Known for her previous roles in Empire and 1997’s Boogie Nights, the 50-year-old actress will join the group of three in the revival, And Just Like That…, that is written by the show’s original writer, Michael Patrick King, and executive produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

Announced back in January, Sarah Aubrey, the head of original content at HBO Max explained that she “grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humour and the beloved city that has always defined them.”

Unfortunately, many are aware of the tension between Parker and Cattrall, that saw the latter remove herself from the franchise after completing two of the Sex And The City films.

“Not for me. That was part of turning 60,” Cattrall revealed about reclaiming her role as Jones, in a 2017 interview, as per Complex. “That was a very clear moment of how many years do I have left and what do I want to do with it? What haven’t I done? I feel that the show was the best when it was the series and the bonus was the two movies.”

Since the original show aired from 1998 to 2004, many have taken to calling out its lack of diversity through its main cast. And clearly, the reboot looks to be righting those wrongs.

Aside from Ari Parker, Sara Ramirez, Karen Pittman, and Sarita Choudhury have all been added to the reboot’s cast member list, and quite frankly, we cannot wait to meet them.
