For a while now we’ve known that hit Netflix show The Sinner was confirmed to return for a second season, albeit without Jessica Biel, but until now, no further details had been released.
The series — which was adapted from the German novel by Petra Hammersfahr of the same name — was intended to be a standalone limited series, but its success led to it being renewed with a US release date of August 1st 2018.
Overnight, Netflix released the first teaser of season two, which included viewers’ first look at its new leading lady, Carrie Coon.

Though Biel won’t return to her Golden Globe-nominated role as Cora, she will stay on as producer of the show.
