Finance bros have been enjoying something of a renaissance in recent years, and it seems even Olivia Rodrigo isn’t immune to their fleece gilets and penchant for name-dropping. The singer was recently spotted arm in arm with private equity associate Julian Croonenberghs, frolicking around New York and, according to reports, enjoying an Icelandic getaway.
While Olivia’s love life will always be of interest, this latest sighting has particularly piqued our curiosity, as it’s the first time she’s been publicly linked to anyone since her split from Louis Partridge last December.
Her latest album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, released in mid-June, traces the initial euphoric rush of her relationship with Partridge before charting its painful demise. In an interview with Pitchfork, Rodrigo revealed that she originally intended to make a “100 percent love album”, “but obviously it didn’t end up that way.”
Speaking to The New York Times, Rodrigo also explained that she eventually revisited the love songs she had penned at the start of the album, imbuing them with a sense of sadness that, in retrospect, foreshadowed the relationship’s eventual unravelling.
“The song ‘Purple’ was originally a love song… that’s when the doubt creeps in. Then ‘The Cure’ is like you flip the record, and that’s sort of the unravelling.”
In an interview with Anthony Fantano in mid-June, Rodrigo reflected further on writing the album’s breakup songs and on dating more broadly.
“There’s something nice about a nice normal boy. I like it when people don’t know a ton about my job.”

While Croonenberghs keeps a relatively low public profile, a little internet sleuthing reveals he previously worked on the Financial Institutions Investment Banking team at Goldman Sachs before joining private equity firm Hg.
He’s a Brown University alum, with a Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics and computer science under his belt, and he also dabbles in field hockey. And by dabbles, we mean he played for the U.S. Men’s National Team between 2018 and 2020.

In 2026, it feels like Louis Partridge is inescapable. Aside from being the muse of Rodrigo’s album You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, the 23-year-old actor has also been making headlines while riding the press circuit with Millie Bobby Brown for their new Netflix flick Enola Holmes 3.
While their sibling-esque dynamic has provided plenty of press tour entertainment, it’s Millie who has emerged as the agent of chaos, casually weaving Rodrigo lyrics into interviews while seated beside Louis. Whether it’s a coincidence or a subtle joke at his expense, we’ll never know, but watching the whole thing unfold has certainly been entertaining.
