Stranger Things star Maya Hawke is married!
The 27-year-old actress, daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, tied the knot with musician Christian Lee Hutson on Valentine’s Day, exchanging vows in a surprise ceremony at St George’s Episcopal Church in New York City.
Intimate by design, Hawke’s nuptials brought together family, close friends and much of her Stranger Things inner circle. Both of her parents were in attendance, alongside her brother Levon Roan Thurman Hawke.
The guest list doubled as a low key cast reunion, with Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery present to celebrate the couple.
For the ceremony, Hawke braved the cold in a modern, sculptural gown with a sleeveless bodice and high bateau neckline. The restrained upper half gave way to a voluminous skirt of layered, sheer tulle, which lifted into soft, architectural folds as she moved through the street.
She was later seen warming up beneath an oversized, white feathered winter coat. Hutson kept things classic in a black tuxedo. Thurman wore a powder blue Erdem gown with coordinating heels, while Ethan Hawke opted for an understated all black look.
Who Is Christian Lee Hutson?
Hawke and Hutson first met through music. The New York based singer songwriter collaborated with Hawke on her 2024 album Chaos Angel and previously opened for Phoebe Bridgers on tour between 2022 and 2023.
Hutson is best known for his three studio albums, Beginners (2020), Quitters (2022) and Paradise Pop. 10 (2024), which have earned him a devoted following for his diaristic lyricism and folk sound.
Their creative partnership gradually evolved into a relationship, which the pair kept largely out of the public eye. Hutson confirmed their engagement in 2025, and Hawke was later photographed in New York wearing a diamond ring.
The couple made their red carpet debut soon after, appearing together at the Broadway opening of John Proctor Is the Villain in support of Sadie Sink. They were also spotted front row at Prada’s Autumn Winter 2025 show during Milan Fashion Week.
“I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It’s the best,” Hawke said on a 2024 episode of The Zach Sang Show. “They know you as a person, not as an idea. They see your feelings, your history, your reality. It is deeply grounding to feel seen that way.”
Private, creative and deliberately low key, the wedding felt in keeping with the couple’s understated approach to fame.
