Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have long been Hollywood’s beloved power couple, building a combined career and fortune that many would envy. Yet when it comes to raising their three children, the And Just Like That star takes a refreshingly grounded approach.

The couple shares three children: eldest son James Wilkie, 22, and twin daughters Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell, 15. Despite the family’s estimated $200 million fortune amassed from decades of film, TV, theatre, and fashion ventures, Sarah Jessica insists on raising her kids with a focus on self-reliance.

“I really want my children to be educated in the ways that are fulfilling to them,” Sarah Jessica explained in an interview with E! News. She added that adulthood and success don’t follow one strict path and that being equipped to navigate life after education means crafting a life true to oneself – not just inheriting wealth or fame.

What is James Wilkie doing now?

James Wilkie, the oldest of the trio, has recently begun stepping into the spotlight in his own right. This year, he made his television debut on CBS’s Elsbeth, appearing alongside his father Matthew Broderick. Matthew reflected on the experience warmly, saying, “It was great. We had two days together. It was really fun to hang around the craft service table and eat snacks. He was nervous but he got over that.” While both parents have enjoyed high-profile careers, they have made it clear they want James to carve out his own path rather than rely on their Hollywood legacy. Sarah Jessica shared that she hopes her children pursue what excites and challenges them – emphasising emotional and financial independence. “You want for them to be pursuing things that are exciting and challenging and hard and gratifying and to be able to ultimately take care of themselves,” she said.

Where Are Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell Now?

Sarah Jessica’s twin daughters, Tabitha and Marion, are navigating their teenage years out of the typical celebrity spotlight. Living in New York City, the family has prioritised privacy and normalcy for the girls.

The actress has spoken about the joys and challenges of parenting twins with warmth and humour. On Jenna and Friends, she described the twins as a sort of “control study,” joking about their differing personalities despite attending the same school. “It’s like you’re constantly in a control study, because you have one of this type and one of this type,” she said with a grin.

Beyond the lighthearted observations, Sarah Jessica clearly admires her daughters’ curiosity and kindness. “They’re just really interesting. They’re, generally speaking, really kind and curious,” she said.

On Raising Financially Independent Children

Throughout her interview, Sarah Jessica was clear that while her family enjoys immense wealth, she and Matthew are focused on raising children who can stand on their own two feet. They want their kids to support themselves emotionally and financially, and to become responsible, reliable adults.

This philosophy stands out in Hollywood, where inherited wealth and privilege often dominate narratives around celebrity children. Instead, Parker’s approach is centred on choice, education, and self-fulfilment. “I hope that they feel – I hope all young people feel – to some degree, that they have choices and that there isn’t one way,” she said.

For a star who has been contractually committed to playing Carrie Bradshaw for nearly three decades, Sarah Jessica Parker’s parenting ethos feels deeply personal and authentic – one that values independence over entitlement, and personal growth over pedigree.
