Without a doubt, one of the most defining characteristics of shopping today is the feeling of overwhelm. Whether you’re trying to find something online, or you’ve actually journeyed out to explore the shopfloor, the options are plenty, to the extent that decision fatigue often quickly sets in and you decide it’s actually easier to retreat, that you need more time to mull it over. Or worse yet, you impulse buy something you wear maybe once and then never again.

Enter: DOTSHOP, the Australian-founded marketplace that’s aiming to do what others have failed at: restoring the joy of discovery in an era where shopping has become exhausting.

For co-founder and CEO Lisa Ruffle, the idea grew out of a career sitting squarely at the intersection of fashion, retail and digital. As former Buying Director at Moda Operandi and David Jones, and saw firsthand how online shopping had lost its sense of curation. “Discovery in fashion for the modern woman became broken,” she explains. “Endless product feeds, extremely high-priced edits, and very little curation or point of view.”

Working with co-founder Stephen Jensen, with DOTSHOP they’re proposing something more intimate, intelligent, and genuinely stylish than what we’ve come to expect from online shopping. It blends the rigour of old-world fashion buying with the cultural influence of modern tastemakers, creating a platform where curation is not an aesthetic choice but a considered strategy.

The idea is to bring clarity back into the experience. For Ruffle, DOTSHOP is “a place to discover exceptional pieces and the voices behind them”.

Unlike traditional e-commerce sites that rely on volume, DOTSHOP takes a deliberately restricted, premium approach. As a marketplace, it houses a precise edit of fashion, beauty, jewellery and archival vintage, with brands ranging from Christopher Esber and Magda Butrym to Joanna Czech Skincare, Skin Design London, Tove and rare pieces from Prada, Céline and Alaïa

But its real differentiator is the people behind the selection. Ruffle and her team have built a curator-driven model, an ecosystem of trusted style authorities who create their own storefronts, share personal recommendations, and reveal the pieces they genuinely wear and love.

Curators include Lara Worthington, AGMES founder Morgan Lang, stylist Debora Rosa, model Ella Richards and renowned esthetician Joanna Czech. Each curator brings the sensibility of a buyer or editor, filtering the market through their own lens so shoppers can browse not just by category, but by taste.

Ruffle describes the model as an evolution of what modern shoppers are already craving: authenticity anchored in expertise. “We really want to hear from experts when it comes to investing our money,” she says. “Our curators are the modern equivalent of store buyers, tastemakers, editors, and creators who build their own DOTSHOP storefronts. Each brings a point of view, introducing their audience to brands and pieces they genuinely wear and love. We want to shop with real people who have real style.” For shoppers fatigued by endless influencer links and the fragmentation that comes with them, DOTSHOP’s approach offers coherence. As a true marketplace, customers can check out across multiple brands and curators in a single seamless transaction.

Ultimately, it’s about bringing back the element of surprise and delight that used to make shopping feel fun. And about ensuring you find something to buy now, but love and want to wear for years to come. “Australian women are some of the most stylish in the world, so we are really building DOTSHOP for her.”
