Everything We Know (So Far) About 'Succession' Season 3

Calling all Succession fans! Jesse Armstrong's satirical family drama, centred on the problematic Roy dynasty, is officially preparing to release its third instalment, after what feels like months of waiting.

With news that filming has officially wrapped in New York City, fans are preparing to welcome back their favourite dysfunctional, trouble-making fam in what is promised to be a bigger and more dramatic season than ever before (if that's even possible).

Read on for everything we know so far about Succession season three, from its potential plot to the new cast and hotly-anticipated release date.

When Will Succession Season 3 Premiere?

Sadly, HBO is yet to release Succession's official release date but the network's chief content officer Casey Bloys has confirmed that the series will debut later this year, via Deadline. "A lot of that will depend on how the vaccine rolls out, how much a factor COVID is. It’s still very much a real thing in production at the moment, hopefully, it gets easier to deal with. It’s hard to predict right now," Bloys said.

What Will The Plot Of Succession Season 3 Be?

After the rollercoaster that was Succession season two, HBO has revealed exactly what the upcoming season will look like via an official synopsis.

It reads: “Ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall at the end of season two, Logan Roy begins season three in a perilous position. Scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances, tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.”

Brian Cox, the actor behind the series' media magnate Logan Roya, also recently confirmed fans suspicions around that knowing smirk at the end of season two. The actor told Deadline, "the boy [Kendall] has finally grown up. He’s finally taking some kind of positive action."

Which Succession Cast Are Returning For Season 3?

Thankfully there's something to look forward to, with plenty of the cast's original characters confirmed to return for its latest chapter, including Bryan Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Nicholas Braun, Alan Ruck, and Matthew Macfayden.

A few other cast have been announced as well, set to join the Roy family for season three.

Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies, The Stand) will take on the role of Lukas Matsson, described as “a successful, confrontational tech founder and CEO,” per Variety, while Adrien Brody (Peaky Blinders) has also officially joined the cast, guest-starring as Josh Aaronson, “a billionaire activist investor who becomes pivotal in the battle for the ownership of Waystar.”

Other notable faces include Sanaa Lathan as Lisa Arthur, a high-profile New York lawyer, as well as K-pop singer, Jihae Kim as Berry Schneider.

Has Succession Season 3 Released The First Look?

On July 7, 2021, HBO released the first official look at Succession season three. It included such captivating lines as: “The revolution will be televised!” and “Logan's gonna fire a million poisonous spiders down your dickie.”

Will Succession Go Beyond Season 3?

Some perhaps unsettling news for fans of the drama, the word is that Succession will most likely end at season five after series writer Georgia Pritchett revealed there is an "end in sight."

“I think the maximum would be five seasons, but possibly more like four," she told The Times. "We’re at the end of filming season three, so at this point, Jesse is saying only one more. But that happens every time. We’ve got a good end in sight.”
