Our eyeballs have been blessed with plenty of rom-coms starring both Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon, but we’ve never seen them star in a rom-com together. Well, until Your Place Or Mine came along.
The Netflix film is set to follow two best friends living on opposite coasts of the US. When they swap houses and lives for a week, they discover that a change might have been what they needed all along.
The film was first announced at Netflix’s Tudum Day in September 2022 where Witherspoon and Kutcher filmed a promo where they spoke over the phone to each other, alluding to their characters routine in new film. In it, the Dude, Where’s My Car? star told Witherspoon that out of all the actors in Hollywood, he’d choose her to make a rom-com with.
“Ashton! That is so sweet! That is literally the nicest thing you said to me,” the Legally Blonde star replied.
Kutcher quickly quipped: “It’s a great line, it worked on Natalie Portman and Cameron Diaz. It’s a lady killer!”

What is Your Place Or Mine about?
The official synopsis via Netflix reveals the film will follow two long-distance best friends who change each other’s lives when Debbie (Witherspoon’s character) decides to pursue a lifelong dream while Peter (Kutcher’s character) volunteers to keep an eye on her teenage son.
From the trailer, we can divulge that there are unresolved feelings between the two (who even hooked up at one point), and the drastic move cross-country exposes this in unexpected ways.
Witherspoon and Kutcher’s short promo referenced the plot of the film with the pair sharing their conversation via FaceTime—long distance really does work for them.
The movie was directed by Aline Brosh McKenna with Witherspoon doubling as executive producer. It’s also been produced under Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine.
