A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack was seen in court for the first time since he was charged with child pornography offences.
The ABC reports the journalist fronted Downing Centre Local Court, where prosecutors were granted an adjournment to finish compiling the brief of evidence.
The court heard eight witness statements reportedly from police officers, news.com.au notes.
McCormack is charged with using a carriage service for child pornography material.
McCormack’s lawyer, Sam Macedone, told reporters outside the court that there had been no decision made if his client would be pleading guilty.
“I’ve got no idea until I get the rest of the brief,” he said.
“There are some outstanding matters on the brief. When we receive those we will be in a much better position to understand what’s there.”
“I feel very confident that on the next occasion we’ll be entering our plea.”
The matter has been adjourned until September 5.
McCormack, 42, was arrested in Sydney on April 6, after raids of his workplace and home.
The senior journalist was released on bail and later admitted to a private hospital for mental health treatment.
He has been suspended from all duties at Channel 9.
McCormack has also been ordered to stay away from children as part of his bail conditions.
