The Best Beauty Looks From MBFWA

From glowing skin to eccentric eyes, we've got all your beauty inspo covered

Leo & Lin

“It’s ethereal, natural and other worldly,” says Napoleon Perdis Global Makeup Artist, Rajja Richani of the makeup look for the show. “We wanted the skin to speak for itself…it glows and bounces on it’s own…very minimal foundation.” For the hair look, Toni & Guy Director Nadia Semanic explains the inspiration as mod 60’s, “[we want] little bit of a sleekness to it but also keep it quite edgy.”

With a ‘Japanese warrior’ inspiration, Creative Director of Shiseido Linda Jefferyes and Alan White for Goldwell created this stunning sequined look. “We wanted the skin to be really modern and fresh…just with something a little extra,” says Jefferyes. With the hair, “it’s a tribe, they’ve got to have that travelled hair…but not wispy, textured and with some polish to it,” says White.

Romance Was Born

Never disappointing on the hair and makeup front – Romance Was Born sported this 1920’s glamour inspired look, created by Alphie Sadsad for Sephora and Renya Xydis for Wella Professionals. “This coming season is all about colour…blues and yellows, adding elements of pink” says Sadsad.

Macgraw

Rich and romantic, Macgraw focused on glowing skin and voluminous waves created by Edwards and Co’s Byron Turnbull for Kevin Murphy and Lancome National Makeup Director, Lara Srokowski. “We layered Kevin Murphy Anti-Gravity and Hair Resort over the top of each other, we then dried that in to help with the natural texture of the girls’ hair,” says Turnbull.

Alice McCall

Glowing skin, dramatic liner and pulled back hair was the perfect combination for Alice McCall. The beauty look was created by MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist Nicole Thompson and Renya Xydis for Wella Professionals.

Albus Lumen

Beautifully bronzed and pared back, “all the models have that beautiful radiant skin which is Lancome’s signature,” says National Makeup Director for the brand, Lara Srokowski. The sun kissed look was achieved by dusting a terracotta shade on the high parts of the cheeks and the nose.

I.AM.GIA

One of the most anticipated shows of the week, I.AM.GIA delivered a huge array of hair and makeup looks. Colette Miller, Makeup Director for ModelCo and Marie Cain, Hair Director for Redken worked to create individual looks for each model – ranging from bleached brows to red liner for makeup, and sleek and blunt to textured and beachy for hair.

“We have one up-do that we’re doing, which is a really light airy bun,” says Lauren McCowen for Cloud Nine. “So we’ve blow dried it back to get that beautiful lift and effortless fly aways, scraped it into a ponytail and tie it in a knot. When the girls are in their final looks, we’re doing a dusting of Kela beads, it’s very chic and elegant.”

Hansen & Gretel

From the stunning wash of blue by Clinique to the subtle rope-tied pony tail by KMS, Hansen & Gretel’s beauty look was both daring and understated. “It’s very romantic, it’s celebrating the female form and the neutral tones. We’re going to mix it up a little bit and go bold with some of the looks as well, but keeping it fresh and dewy and very very natural to fit with the resort collection,” says the makeup director for Clinique. And for hair, “we’ve worked into low ponytail, we’ve used a raw textured string. It’s the ‘Garden of Eve’ and the whole inspiration behind the concept of ‘Eve’,” says Gareth Lenagh for KMS.
