Your Definitive Guide to Dead Sea Mud Masks

With a million skincare and beauty options in our orbit we are constantly on the hunt for the Holy Grail of beauty products - you know the drill; the one that promises to restore our skin, make us look younger, clear our acne and give us that fresh dewy glow that we all crave. Whilst Korean beauty products are indeed a fan favourite and DIY face masks have been making waves on the beauty scene, for your next Sunday self-care session opt for a more ancient routine, one that even Cleopatra herself would give her tick of approval.

Dead Sea Mud is a naturally occurring substance found in one of the most unique bodies of water in Israel. Dubbed the world’s first spa, Queen Sheba and Cleopatra are said to have used the mud’s natural healing properties to get that youthful glow. From Royals to Tourists, thousands travel every year to get their own spa treatment in the magical waters to cover themselves in the healing mud.

Among fans are the likes of Susan Sarandon and Julianne Moore who, let's be honest, defy the odds of aging.  The minerals found in the Dead Sea are meant to detoxify and purify the body, leaving skin feeling cleansed and renewed.

What's actually in Dead Sea Mud?

According to Seacret Spa; "it’s incredibly rich in many nutrients and minerals, including magnesium, phosphates, sodium and bromides. And it’s that higher than usual concentration of natural elements, that your facial skincare can benefit from"

After traveling for a solid 30 hrs... I cannot explain the happiness of a hot shower and a face mask. #necessities ✈️🚘🏨🗻

How do I use it?

Apply an even layer over the face (avoiding the lip and eye area) or body and leave for 15-20 minutes or until the mud has dried. Wash off with a warm washcloth in circular motions and enjoy that fresh glowy skin!

Goodnight 🙏

Are there any risks?

Like adding any new product into your skincare regime, it’s always best to do a small test patch before applying large amounts to the face or body (particularly for those of us with sensitive skin!) For optimal results, follow the instructions on the packet and do not leave the mask on for longer than suggested. Only use once a week to avoid any skin irritation.
