These Celebrities Are Proving Coloured Diamonds Are More Popular Than Ever

A little fine jewellery inspiration from some of our favourite famous faces.

When it comes to diamonds, celebrities do them differently.

Whether it’s having access to some of the most expensive diamonds on the planet for major sartorial moments or wearing them in unexpected ways (think: headpieces and ear cuffs), we often look to famous faces for a bit of fine jewellery inspiration.

One trend that’s here to stay? Coloured diamonds.

From engagement rings to treasured pieces in their collections and everything in between, here are the celebrities proving that coloured diamonds really are a star’s best friend.

Soon-to-be mum of four, Blake Lively, sports a show-stopping, solitaire-set oval pink diamond engagement ring.

Estimated to cost around $2 million USD, the blush pink stone—thought to be a whopping 12 carats—is paired with a rose-gold band pave-lined with tiny, sparkling diamonds, with Lively calling the ring one of her “most treasured possessions”.

With pink diamonds among the rarest coloured diamonds in the world, the actress isn’t the only famous face who counts a blushing diamond among their collection.

Another fan of pink diamonds was the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was gifted a 54-carat intense pink diamond when she married the Duke of Edinburgh in 1947, which was later mounted onto a brooch worn on many royal occasions, including her Silver Jubilee 30 years later.

Pink Kimberley obtained a large portion of the final supply of Argyle pink diamonds, fashioned into rings, pendants and earrings in award-winning contemporary designs.

One of the world’s most prized jewels, over 90 per cent of the world’s pink diamonds were mined from the Argyle mine in the remote part of the East Kimberley region in Western Australia. Since its closure in 2020, the pink stones are rarer than ever and have therefore become exponentially more valuable.

Australian-owned business Pink Kimberley obtained many of these Argyle pink diamonds prior to the mine’s closure, now stocking Australia’s most prized stones in award-winning contemporary designs. With collections of engagement and dress rings, pendants and earrings, Pink Kimberley is unparalleled in crafting these rare stones into elegant, sparking pieces.

Argyle pink diamonds—of which there is now a finite supply—range in colour from soft blush to deep magenta and are among the best and most beautiful in the world, all found at Pink Kimberley.

On The Bright Side: The ‘It’ Girls

While show-stopping designer gowns, makeup looks to lust over and swoon-worthy hair styles make or break a red-carpet appearance, sometimes, celebrities often draw the most attention for their choice of accessories.

Look no further than the latest iteration of “It Girls” and you’ll noticed yellow-hued diamonds have become spotlight-stealing additions to their outfits.

Pam & Tommy star Lily James donned a coiled, yellow diamond necklace on the Oscars red carpet earlier this year, the perfectly subtle pairing for her pretty-in-pink Atelier Versace dress.

And Bridgerton star Simone Ashley draped herself in golden glamour at this year’s Met Gala, accessorising her gold and black Moschino bustier crop with a diamond choker, featuring a yellow diamond centrepiece.

Girl of the moment Zendaya hardly leaves home without her yellow diamond ring, with the Euphoria star calling the 8-carat stunner her “treat-myself” gift. While the cushion-cut, canary yellow diamond has sparked engagement rumours, the actress says she bought it as a “splurge” that she can one day pass onto her grandchildren as a family heirloom.

A Rainbow Collection: Jennifer Lopez

One of the most prolific collectors of coloured diamonds, Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring from Ben Affleck features an 8.5-carat, natural green diamond. While the actress and singer credits green as her “lucky colour”, her engagement ring is not the only coloured diamond the 53-year-old has owned.

In fact, when her now-husband first proposed back in 2002, he presented the star with a pink, 6.1 radiant-cut diamond. The ring made the pair “jewellery influencers”, reigniting the pink diamond trend and dramatically increasing their popularity (and value).

Not long after she broke off her first engagement with Affleck, she was gifted an 8.5 carat blue diamond from singer Marc Anthony, worth an estimated $4million.

And her love for coloured diamonds doesn’t stop with rings: husband Ben Affleck recently surprised her with a pair of green and pink diamond earrings.
